Technical Support / Re: Is my Pi bust too

Steve,
Yes It boots up fine, right up to the login after monitoring on HDMI. I can at first Log into PA setup pages for about 10mins then it drops out and the unable to conect. (No WIFI from PA. I'm convinced its something to do with the PI but don't have another to test with. The same thing happens on iPhone and 2 X iPads.

I've decide its time for an upgrade instead of buying another PI to eliminate that possible problem. FX is now ordered and hopefully arrive early in the week.

It a shame the Exchange is not avalabe or i would have sent it back for the team to check it over. I suppose I could have sent it back for cheeking but decided an up grade was the way to go. I have a few questions about the FX which will be asked in the correct thread.

I think I can now say now Resoled but unknown issue.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the suggestions so far nothing seems to improve. Its got me Beat! Tried back at the aircraft and It just drops WIFI connection. It just refuses to stay connected. It now also drops connection at home too.  I've just about given up with it.

I've just noticed the Red And Green lights on the Pilot Aware transmitter board have stopped flashing alternate now the connection is lost (not PI)

PI Board now just has Red Light and no Green.

@exfirepro Peter,
Finally got to test again back in the air. There is still a fault and it seems to be the WIFI connection to iPhone and iPad Mini showing same problem.

Before flight and taxi Pilotawre was connected to iPhone but not iPad. All was well for about 10 mins on iPhone but I could not get connection to iPad. Checked for connection On Bothe devices under settings and it showed no WIFI connection. Pilot Aware not showing or not found or listed. Still on the ground and not connected to any other network, then iPhone also dropped the connection. So now not connected to any device.

In flight I'm getting all the correct reports over audio from the pilot aware, so it is actually working fine and reporting other aircraft correctly proving the new install is correct.

As I had already inputted the setup page of the pilot aware at home before taking it back to the aircraft I was happy the correct key and expiry date are all OK.

It is as though its an intermittent WIFI problem. What are your thoughts?

I have it turned back on here at home and is connected correctly. this is a complete mystery.

In Hope
Richard

P.S.

You say 'Subscription Renewed No Problem' - but from previous posts back in December on another thread you were obviously having issues trying to renew your subscription and stated that you did not receive the expected email containing the new licence key. I advised you at the time to get in touch with Ashley at 'support@pilotaware.com', and to let us know on here if/when that issue was resolved, but I hadn't see any response to that request - other than the comment 'Subscription renewed no problem.' above.

Aggreged I should have updated you but I was still having problems in connecting the PA and I may still have a problem. so its ongoing at the moment. The Product Key works fine and It shows the correct expire date. After the full reinstall this is the first time I have managed to enter the product key. Progress is being made. I just need to test back at the aircraft.

Progress has been made. I have managed to connect to iPhone and enter all details and Key, No Problem.

The problem now seems to be that it will not connect to iPad Mini Gen2 (I know I need an upgrade) but its all worked perfectly up to the new Pilotaware Update. Connection to home Wifi works fine browsing web no problem. Changed to wifi Pilotaware hotspot and unable to open setup pages. I will take it back to the aircraft next week as all antennas are there so I can not fully test here at home.

Uptimist,
No one has answered the USB port issue to connect a keyboard

Just plug the USB key board into one of the usbs on the PAW. You can unplug the dongles if you don’t have a spare usb.

Plug a monitor into the HDMI on the side. You can just use your HDMI tv for this. But you only have to do this if your having problems so we can advise you where your having problems.

You need to select "CHS format size adjustment" on version 5.0.1 you tick the box to select it. Let us know how you get on

So has anyone done an update to new version successfully yet?

Yes, full SD format successful. Successfully extracted PAW to newly Formatted SD. Insert new SD card with New PAW files into PAW (Rasburry Pi)

I have had quite a lot of practice over the last two years so no problems at all. The instructions suggests SDformater v4. But there is a new version it is 5.0.1 and I can confirm that bothe version work successfully.

Also managed to fly with the 3D/ModeS version....... Well done team...... outstanding work....... you have a very happy Pilot here.

Hi Lee, just before I format my SD card.... will the new update still fit on a 4GB card?

Thanks

The first thing to do is speak to your LAA Inspector. He/She may just class you installation as a miner mod and not require any feather LAA involvement. There is A mod for connecting your transponder to a un certified GPS, you could just say the PAW is the un certified GPS. Look on the LAA Website the info is avalabe.

Hi,
Just peal the silver sticker back and you can remove the magnet.
