Uptimist,
No one has answered the USB port issue to connect a keyboard

Just plug the USB key board into one of the usbs on the PAW. You can unplug the dongles if you don’t have a spare usb.

Plug a monitor into the HDMI on the side. You can just use your HDMI tv for this. But you only have to do this if your having problems so we can advise you where your having problems.

You need to select "CHS format size adjustment" on version 5.0.1 you tick the box to select it. Let us know how you get on

So has anyone done an update to new version successfully yet?

Yes, full SD format successful. Successfully extracted PAW to newly Formatted SD. Insert new SD card with New PAW files into PAW (Rasburry Pi)

I have had quite a lot of practice over the last two years so no problems at all. The instructions suggests SDformater v4. But there is a new version it is 5.0.1 and I can confirm that bothe version work successfully.

Also managed to fly with the 3D/ModeS version....... Well done team...... outstanding work....... you have a very happy Pilot here.

Hi Lee, just before I format my SD card.... will the new update still fit on a 4GB card?

Thanks

The first thing to do is speak to your LAA Inspector. He/She may just class you installation as a miner mod and not require any feather LAA involvement. There is A mod for connecting your transponder to a un certified GPS, you could just say the PAW is the un certified GPS. Look on the LAA Website the info is avalabe.

Hi,
Just peal the silver sticker back and you can remove the magnet.

Thank you Lee,  I see now. The list would be too long to publish there is no need I understand now. Thanks.

Just looking down the list Lee has posted above, I notice there is no single “S___” in the list. Why is it if an aircraft has just a mode S transponder it is not displayed?  If the aircraft has a Mode S and Pilotaware it does display in the list “S_P__” .

I also ask, as a friend was in an aircraft with just a mode S (Trig and no PAW) and he is not in the list but I am and he landed about 10 mins after me. His reg is G-CGVJ. I also never get warnings from his aircraft as a bearingless target but I do receive mode C bearingless targets.  On our return flight north he flew behind and within 500 ft same direction.

Sorry if I’ve missed something I just have the hunger to learn how things work.

Just another suggestion is, you can always make a fin for the antenna Keith has on offer. If you built your Europa you will easily be-able to make one from the scraps you have left over. If not let me know and I will try to knock one together to fit the Pilotaware antenna.

I may make one anyway to stop me stabbing my self in the head with the one I have fitted.

Sorry I don’t have a screen shot of Richards traffic page. May be he could post one himself.

You have provided the answers in that yes we should have been able to see him on SD. The info on the traffic page showed just ACS but with no GPS info   His Hex codes was there and displayed his aircraft type.

Now I have shown them how to display the info they will do some more experiments to see where they have a problem.

Hi
PilotAware have tuned external antennas available on the products page of the website. They can be fitted to your europa but a  groungplane will be needed.  I’m currently doing the very thing you are thinking about. I’m just going to use the Pi3 antenna that Keith has produced. The ADSB antenna is the dipole low profile (also sold by Pilotaware) and is nicely mounted on the side of my Europa panel.

I have yet to test the Pi3 antenna as the aircraft is down for its annual I will try to get some pictures of the antenna mounted to the inspection panel for the tunnel in my Europa.

Richard,
Nice to meet you on Tuesday, I’m glad all went well and the screen shots will provide what you need for your ADSB sign off.

A question for the forum. Richards hanger partner has a Beaker transponder in his aircraft and is connected ADSB via another GPS (not PAW) on the ground we could pick up his aircraft on the PAW traffic page but it failed to display gps correctly and not transmitting the GPS. On an earlier flight he said it was displayed as a ADSB contact on SD, he could also find the aircraft track on Flight Radar 24.

Is the reason we could not see him on the ground dew to needing to be interagated by ATC? Or should we have seen him on the ground? He is also trying to get his ADSB signed off too.
