Hi Clive,

Not sure where you are but some airfields like Goodwood are carrying out ADS-B trials. You could fly near one and ask them to confirm (maybe by screenshot) that they can see you with their ADS-B only kit.  I imagine they will be keen to help if they are like Goodwood. Why not visit Goodwood it's a great airfield, speaking as one who is not even based there.

The above thread may supply some answers but David’s question about the Ground Station with green highlight is not answered on that thread. I am hoping that somebody will answer. Many thanks to ‘Aircrew’ for his very useful software.

General Discussion / Re: PilotAware Map

Hi All,
This map looks well out of date in some respects ie there has been a PAW ground station at Bembridge for 6 months at least and there is nothing at Lee on Solent contrary to this map.
There is a Glider ground station west of Brighton at Southwick (not on the map) and I am gently on the case to persuade the owner to  upgrade to PAW.

The male 1/4"-20 threaded steel stud will connect to any standard female thread found on camcorders and digital cameras.

Mike,

Noticed this once yesterday (except I have a Rosetta). I am pretty sure that it happened when I noticed I had not set screen lock on my IPad mini 4. I pulled down the control panel, hit lock and within a minute or two looked down to see the screen blank. SkyDemon having given up with no gps. I have location services within SkyDemon set to always if anybody is wondering. I have the latest software all round. I don’t think I have noticed this problem if I stay within SkyDemon the whole flight.

You don’t mention SkyDemon so the above may not be relevant. I am assuming my problem was not PAW related.

The new PAW software is working well over approx 5 flights, I report just for info

Peter,

I may be wrong on this but to me Aircrew playback does not  differentiate between mode C and mode S bearingless targets, but Skydemon does show the differences in actual flight ie in real time  it will give a circle AND the accompanying reg from bearingless mode S data. The new PAW software of course will pass to SkyDemon position on mode S if it comes from uplinked MLAT data. I notice Aircrew now has a new version, but the above still applies.

Sorry CH did not see your first post - over then to the experts. There are a lot of them about on this forum so do not despair. In the meantime have you tried using your old card and does it work ok ?
Also say where you are as some expert might be in your neck of the woods.

Hi Cloudhound,
If you bought the micro SD from PILOTAWARE and it has the latest software on it why not put it into your PAW and see what happens ?

Lee,

Can I suggest in the combined code P U M, the code U is redundant and the P is misleading. M says it all, this data must be uplinked to our PAW equipment from a ground station, so M is enough.

Then you could use the P code when it is a true P-P interaction.

What is more M also implies A,C,S so code M speaks volumes.

Deker,
Let me put the question another way - why is a paw
aircraft being reported to me as U M with a jerky profile ?

Using Aircrew analyser and PAW with the latest software.
I could ask a number of questions but here is the first one.

Considering my flight into Lee on Solent yesterday I note using Aircrew an aircraft well ahead of me to land with P U M codes, ie no C no S codes - how does U and M come about ??? (SkyDemon also displayed it whilst I was flying but I did not bother to look closely at the Ipad as the Pilot of the said aircraft was giving good and timely position reports). Presumably it's a problem with Aircrew ? It certainly looked like U data being used as the profile was not smooth like an aircraft with a P designation.

Technical Support / Re: SD Software upgrade

First time I have updated the software for my Rosetta. Had a careful read of the foregoing messages,
and other documentation.

Bought an 8GB micro SD card class 4. Downloaded the SD formatter and formatted using overwrite and the CHS option all on my Windows 10 laptop.  Downloaded the zip file and unzipped it. Copied the files to the micro SD card. Put it in the Rosetta and powered up. Seemed to take only 5 mins to display the WiFi link and copied the Config data from a screenshot of my old Config. It was a breeze. Well done Lee et al.

I have not noticed this problem using SD on an IPad but I may wrong and perhaps have just taken it my stride but I will look out for it at the next update. Thanks for the PilotAware ‘help with SD’ reference there is a lot of useful material about via this forum.

Good, but only needs setting once in my experience over 4 months.

Have you setup the SkyDemon ‘Third Party Devices’ to tick PilotAware ?
