General Discussion / FLYSTO.net
« on: January 29, 2024, 05:15:18 pm »
Has anybody tried this? It's free.

The way i have been using this is to use FlightAware to get a kml file, then save to your computer. Then go to flysto.net and upload the kml file. Then i suggest you use the cockpit view to see the terrain you flew over, sunlight corrected for time of flight AND see TRAFFIC you encountered!!!!

You don't need pilotaware track data.

You will be amazed.

General Discussion / Lee - trying to impress us ?
« on: March 17, 2023, 06:17:27 pm »
I went flying Mar 15 and found an UPDATE AVAILABLE on the radar screen. So went to UPDATE and all went smoothly and the new update was installed.

Flying again this afternoon, Mar 17 and I saw the UPDATE AVAILABLE message again. So went to UPDATE and it installed like a flash. I think Lee is trying to impress us and he has in my opinion succeeded.

Thanks for allowing the Nm/Km option on the radar screen and all the other things, some which of which might dawn on me as time flies by.

When did those poor guys with SE2 get their last update ???

General Discussion / Atom Station Uplinks
« on: August 04, 2021, 08:26:05 pm »
When an ATOM stn sees a PAW aircraft say aircraft "A" I take it the ATOM stn expects nearby PAW equipped aircraft will 'see' the aircraft "A" direct and consequently the ATOM stn does nothing. But other aircraft may not see "A" direct due to various circumstances. If aircraft "A" also has, say, mode-s it would be useful if the mode-s position of "A" was announced (if available) to all aircraft by the ATOM Stn. just in case.

General Discussion / GRID/ATOM news

I don't think I have seen such a dumb news item for a while and the haste of it is compounded by the spelling mistake.
Well what does it mean? Please advise us.

General Discussion / Competition for Most Aircraft logged by flight
« on: March 19, 2020, 12:26:03 pm »
No prizes offered for this competition.

Last Monday on a flight in the South East my track log showed 6 aircraft equipped with PAW, 1 Glider from an Uplink Station, 1 mode S reported Uplinked at 8nm reciprocal track same height - I changed my height, the other a/c flew over at 1 oclock high having never changed altitude) and finally 1 ADS-B out over Bournemouth most likely from an enhanced transponder.

In the PAW equipped number above  was METMAN4 who was 'checking' the perfect weather over the Solent at 500' for most of my journey north of the IOW, him first one way then the other. He was speaking to both Solent and Bournemouth so I could hear him and eventually I eyeballed him over taking -  he was clearly faster than a PA28

Rule 1 No counting your own aircraft.
Rule 2 No double counting if you see the same aircraft in another part of your journey.

I am sure you can beat this so let's hear it.

General Discussion / Aircraft Flying Backwards
« on: March 07, 2020, 11:17:46 pm »
I have a track log which when played on Aircrew has an aircraft flying backwards on final. If anybody wants to debug the file I will send it via email. As it happens I know the aircraft concerned and checked. The pilots were using SE2 and they were navigating their flight with SkyDemon using SE2 to give them the GPS data and traffic and that all was fine as far as they were concerned.

They assure me they were not flying backwards on final. Actually after landing on 'roll out' their aircraft was going forward.

This is not the only time I have seen this phenomena.

The pilots also said that their SE had tracked my aircraft which has a Garmin 330 ES mode S transponder ie with ADS-B out.

Technical Support / PLAY function on 192.168.1.1 Track Page
« on: February 27, 2019, 06:04:02 pm »
I cannot find anything about this feature. When I press PLAY (relating to a track I have flown) the background of the button turns
red and nothing else happens ?

Technical Support / Mode c and no squawk
« on: February 24, 2019, 05:10:40 pm »
Hi,
Can someone please explain why the 192.168.1.1 Traffic page cannot show the SQ for mode C aircraft ?
Also how is the reg of these aircraft sometimes shown in the righthand column along with ft? and pwr?
the latter two items (ft and pwr) usually looking like junk.

Sorry if I have missed the explanation of this elsewhere.

Phil
