It also has onboard Bluetooth which could potentially be used for audio out though this hasn’t been developed yet.

But what a fantastic development that would be  ;D ;D ;D

Though actually it shows the GPS as being unavailable...?

That's because in 2023 Skynet has taken over the world and shut down the GPS network. The machines rule and are not concerned about traffic awareness......until they collide with each other.

General Discussion / CO Detection
« on: July 18, 2018, 12:53:57 am »
I saw this on the Stratux Facebook page and thought it was interesting. Apparently the new Sentry has this feature (http://flywithsentry.com)....which is basically a Skyecho 2 with the ADSB Out removed and CO detection added. I think it would be a useful add-on if it's possible to integrate it into PAW but only offer it as a thought as I have no idea if there's space available/capacity to handle the calculations/power etc etc etc.

Of course, this wouldn't be as useful as Bluetooth audio.....have I mentioned that before  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Technical Support / Re: Rosetta Hard Wiring

I don't think even I would find this one too difficult.

You could have the aircraft 12v supply to a USB converter, such as the Charge2/4, and then plug the Rosetta power lead into one of the USB slots. You could have a 12v DC to 5v DC USB converter (look on Amazon and eBay) and do it that way with the same Rosetta power lead (but might be noisy, which the Charge 2/4 specifically avoids) or you could have 12v DC to 5v DC step down transformer and wire up the Rosetta power supply to the 5v side. Nothing complicated at all I think.....and I can just about wire a plug.

OGN-R PilotAware / Re: Ground Station display

I noticed this comment from Lee on the Sky Demon Forum:

We have added an option in PilotAware to Enable/Disable the position of ground stations to connected navigation devices.
This will be in the next release.

More excellent customer service from the PAW Team and the type of listening to their users that many other companies would do well to emulate  :)

This was in one of Lee's old posts:

Hi Gareth,
That is pretty important, what it is detecting is an undervoltage issue
I will add more info to the warnings in the next release, but basically, these are individual bitmasks (techie speak)

Code: [Select]
0x00000001 under-voltage
0x00000002 arm frequency capped
0x00000004 currently throttled
0x00010000 under-voltage has occurred
0x00020000 arm frequency capped has occurred
0x00040000 throttling has occurred

0x50000 means that undervoltage was detected, and throttling occured at some time
0x50005 means that undervoltage is detected, and throttling is applied

OGN-R PilotAware / Re: Hypothetical question

I'd be checking the underpinning on the house if it's really close to the ridge and seeing how that might affect insurance premiums  ;D

Good question, by the way and one I was thinking about for when I eventually move back to the UK (although the Isle Of Wight might not fit the geological description).

Perhaps there are other ways this can be indicated, but I cannot think of any without the support of all the nav software providers.

Yes, I thought that might be the case of it not being a simple fix, hence my "if it is possible" comment.

Because I am, unfortunately, still just a PAW lurker I haven't looked at the filters available. Is there a G/S filter or is that something that would need to be added? If it's already there, then case closed but if it's not then it would be an elegant solution.

Mind you, priority for this is obviously lower than Bluetooth audio  ;D ;D ;D ;D

If it is possible to not show the ground stations then I would prefer not to see them; instead seeing only 'threats' and reducing clutter on a fairly packed iPad Mini screen.

However, is it possible to remove them? I believe they are, for the most part, basically PAW units and, as such, are seen by the receiving PAW as another PAW. How can you filter out ground station PAWs? Of course, they might have a special 'ground' signal, in which case I would have thought it would be quite easy for the boffins around these parts  ;)

Another one to add to your list but the answers will probably skew your statistics  ???

General Discussion / Re: PAw with Audio

Hi Chris,

Yes, they're good bits of kit and I have one but, without boring you by repeating my previous writings of my permanent-mount plans, the built-in BT offered by the Pi3B would be a better solution for me and, I think, others in the future.

Ahhh, so you noticed my subtle hint  ;D

I thought if I just slip 'Bluetooth audio' in at every opportunity then my not-very-subtle subliminal 'suggestion' will win through  ;)
