Technical Support / Re: FUNKE Transponder FW Version
« on: February 08, 2018, 09:08:14 pm »
Alan,

I too have a Funke TRX (TRT800) and have had it upgraded shortly (don‘t remember version) due to being able to send ADS-B.

I paid ~ 250 Euros and was surprised to see they had changed the display for free, though it was not that bad. This service is well received by OLED equipped TRX owners as the OLED displays tend to fade over time.

Perhaps this makes your decision easier.

Eric,

may I ask a question?

What‘s the use of publishing all these numbers? Should I (as normal PAW user) be interested in them (if yes, why) or is this kind of data base for an analysis for Lee and the team?

For those that tried with a static IP, did you enter a valid static IP. for your network?

Hi Ian,

No, I didn't, wasn't aware I had to.

Peter (and Lee),

My LAN update worked after setting dynamic IP address, as suggested by Lee (thanks a lot, Lee). Before it didn't work, nothing happened after connecting to the LAN.

Best regards

Auto download doesn't work for me neither. Had the PAW connected to the same line as during the last update for more than 20 mins with all ancillaries (WLAN, ADSB, ...) disconnected. After having connected my iPad via WLAN it tells me that PilotAware version 20161201 is ready to be installed, which is the old version.

What did I do wrong?

Best regards

Rmcaree,

When I first used radar I also thought that the buttons wouldn't work on my iPad. I found out the reason being they are kind of 'counter-intuitive', meaning you'll have to press '+' when you think you'll have to press '-' and vice versa.

Best regards

... there are various 'non-slip' pads available designed to stop Sat Navs etc slipping off car dashboards, which might work.

Those non-slip pads may stop things from sliding around in a car, but they are not suitable for use in a plane. When flying through severe turbulences you'll wish you would have fixed every single part in the cockpit.

General Discussion / Re: Barometric Pressure Way-off ?

Maybe I'm wrong. It just came to my mind that PAW might be able to calculate QNH from barometric pressure and GPS altitude.

Can one of the pros throw in his thoughts, please?

Thank you and regards

Eric

Area info is QNH, while PAW is giving you QFE.

General Discussion / Re: Sky Demon and Radar on one screen
« on: December 04, 2016, 09:54:11 pm »
Hi Richard
Yes that would be very cool. I was Told that the new IPad Air and pro? Can do this but haven't tried this. Any users out there got one?

Keith,

Just tried it with an iPad Air with Skydemon installed.

Short story: It doesn't work.

Long story: Launching SD in Flarm mode shows my position and traffic around me. Everything's alright. Bringing up Safari in split screen besides SD shows the radar screen of PAW with traffic moving all around my position. Sounds good so far, but while split screen is activated, the SD screen freezes. As soon as split screen is disabled the SD screen refreshes and keeps working as usual.

Too bad!

Best regards

Eric

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your message.

I have a WiFi & Cellular iPad I'm flying with and sometimes have internet connection up to more than 6,000ft GND via the cellular portion of my iPad. I don't want to miss that information I'm receiving in the air even now as SD has got the 'precipitation radar'.

So my question would be, does the connectivity option only influence WiFi and can I leave the option '... when planning and flying' on for cellular reception (without BT tethering)?

Thank you

Eric
