Hi, this is odd, it should come up immediately.

Back to the old staple of,

You are using the supplied power lead, and you are using a 2 amp supply. Either a reputable battery, or a 2 amp wall charger.

Cheers, Dave.

edit:

Richard, I think you have a typo in your email registered on the forum ?
It has 2 x "n" and gets returned.
I've tried again with 1 "n"

It's the socket Dave. I've tried a bunch of different cables in there, all with the same result. The unit works properly, until the cable falls out.

PM sent.

cheers

Dave.

Hi JollyRog,

if you swap the cables over, is it the cable that is a sloppy fit or the socket on the Pi ?

cheers

Dave.

I,m currently redesigning my PAW case...... I was thinking of adding a fan to help with cooling the ADSB receiver, but giving the fan some thought..... would the air flow affect the pressure sensor? If the airflow can exit as fast as it goes in would it still affect?

It's a long shot, but you may have heard about the Bernoulli effect?  ;D ;D

Pressure is lower in a moving fluid. (and the faster it moves, the lower the pressure) So yes, it could.

Hi Rob,

I've replied to your PM, but I'll post the reply here for info.

------

Hi Rob,

having read your last PM, I think you are getting some sort of shielding effect from the panel and the iPhone holder.

As you said it's fine when not in it's holder, but loses connection when you place it back in it's holder, I'm pretty sure this is the case.

When SkyDemon says it has lost GPS what it actually means is it has lost the WiFi.

Your proposed solution of moving the wifi dongle with a USB lead should get around this issue.

Didn't we replace the WiFi dongles already, so I'm pretty sure you've not been unlucky enough to get 3 bad dongles !

I think your solution will fix it, as you already know it works when the phone is not in it's holder. Moving the wifi nearer the holder should circumvent the screening.

regards

Dave.

Hi,

they are on order, but we have a current delivery date of 10th of October.
As soon as we have them, they'll be back on the site.
More popular than we realised.

Looks like mine was just despatched today. Perhaps in future the store can have pre tested and ready to go kits in stock ready to go. These days the expectation is that stuff marked as 'in stock' is generally send out the same or next working day.

Hopefully yours is on the way too Arcticash!

They are always pre tested and ready to go when they are put on the website, we never put stuff on the website until it is sitting in the stock room.

I think we need to be very clear about our despatch policy. It does say on the website, but I think it's badly worded. Our despatch is done by part of what I call the cottage workforce as PAW hardware is a cottage industry.

I know at one point they were dropping off to the sorting office every day, I think they wait until they have 10 or 15 to take, so twice a week basically. We could ramp the price up, and I could employ someone for the office, and they could deal with dispatch too. Trying to avoid that.

You guys want to be thankful you're not waiting for a PPL(A).

I've been quoted 30 working days for mine to arrive, (yep, 6 weeks)
a friend was told 50 working days when he phoned.

I may not be current to take passengers in the shareoplane when it arrives !

Hi Tiger,

I'm sure it's on it's way, I'll check with the despatch department.
It's £8.25 because it's special delivery as it's insured for £200, and Special Delivery is the only way to do that.
Of course we could just add £8 onto the price and send it free delivery ;-)

I'll update our policy to make it clearer, I suppose it very much depends which day you order on and then which day we dispatch on synchronising favourably. Sorry it's not worked out well.

cheers

Dave.

Hi David,

If it's one of ours, get it back to us as per the email and we'll repair or replace and test it.
