General Discussion / Track File : Post Processor : New Version (0.2)
« on: July 04, 2016, 03:44:49 pm »
Hi all,..

We now have a nice GUI Post Processor for the track files.

It's a runnable jar file, so you can just copy it to your machine and double click on it like an executable.

What it tells you :

It looks at the returns from each aircraft you see, and it maps the FURTHEST contact that you have with that aircraft on each heading you see it.

If an aircraft flew in a circle around you, and then towards you, what you would see on the GUI would be the hit that was the FURTHEST from you on each heading.

I want to make it clear that what it does not do is show you a track of other aircraft, but of course, if one flies past you to one side, then this may appear as a track, as it will only fly through each heading once !

Remember, it will show the furthest hit on each bearing, but it only has a resolution of 1 degree, so, out a 20nm, those hits may look a little scattered, rather than a smooth line.

Download from here...

PilotAware Track File Post Processor

This is a first version and I am sure will be updated. Lee is already adding extra features to the track files that we can take advantage of in post processing.

General Discussion / New antenna options listed
« on: June 06, 2016, 04:44:03 pm »
Hi all..

there are some new antenna options listed on the PlotawareHardware.com website now.

http://pilotawarehardware.com/product-category/accessories/

Important to note that these designs have actually been tested in the air with PilotAware, with good results.

The low profile "coaming top" bull horn couplet dipole, may be of interest to many, as it's so discrete.

The best results we have had to date have been with a monopole whip externally mounted, but that was a very specific setup with the ground plane taken seriously.

The standard antenna was chosen because it gives a standard range out to 20km, so remember there is no NEED to change, but I know some are searching for different options already. Especially smaller options, and the bull horn may satisfy this.

General Discussion / ARF Discount, Invoices in your inboxes.... now!
« on: June 05, 2016, 07:02:05 pm »
Hi all,

I'm told by the chap doing our ARF replacement invoices that he has spent the afternoon doing them in the sun.

You should have invoices in your inboxes ready to be paid. Just thought I'd mention it.

best regards,

Technical Support / SOLVED! - it's a zero.
« on: June 04, 2016, 07:40:22 am »
Just thought I'd post this, I've had a few over the last few days.

The license key, it only contains 0-9 and A-F.

If anyone has seen the IT Crowd TV programme they will be familiar with the phrase "have you turned it off and on again"

my current stock phrases that I say before being told the issue...

"It's a zero"
"Use our power lead"

General Discussion / Offline Today.
« on: June 04, 2016, 07:35:11 am »
Morning all,

I won't be replying to hardware queries today as I'll be zooming round the skies of the south east with a 93 year old veteran. A man who actually flew a lancaster. I shall have a PAW with me too!

Normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

General Discussion / All Forward Orders now shipped.
« on: June 02, 2016, 04:49:42 pm »

Hi all,

just a note to say all forward order kits have now shipped, arriving guaranteed by 1pm tomorrow.
All PilotAware Bridges for ARF replacement now tested.

We will continue with invoicing the ARF replacement PAW bridges.

As stated earlier, when you get the invoice it means yours has been placed on the allocated pile and so if you pay it, you will receive it.

Still receiving ARF and trying to process them in the order received.
Didn't know there were so many of you out there !

best regards

David Styles.

I have 6 here waiting to be paid for.
I have sent "reminders" on them yesterday as well.

So, please check your trash/junk/spam folders, you may have an invoice for an ARF, or 3 !
(Yes, two of the outstanding ones had 3 ARF's in them !)

General Discussion / Don't power up without main antenna.
« on: May 22, 2016, 08:53:17 am »
Going to have to add this to the instructions.

"Radio transceivers can be damaged by being powered up without an antenna, do not power up your PAW without it's antenna"

Haven't had one damaged, just someone mentioning that they were doing so.

You can remove the ADSB if you really want to for some reason.

General Discussion / ARF replacement update
« on: May 20, 2016, 07:20:51 pm »
Aviation Technology and Hardware :

I thought it prudent to give an update on ARF replacement as we are receiving quite a few queries asking "Where is my new Bridge ??"

As announced in the launch we split the first batch of 100 Bridges between those buying full kits and the ARF discount program.

AT&H arranged for the ARF replacements to be processed and we duly received hundreds of them back. (Literally hundreds).

The process is a manual one and it involves a manual invoice being raised against the choice in the request enclosed. It also involves checking licences and we are receiving what I shall term "anomalies".

The invoice is then received into your email, and when paid the new Bridge or full unit is shipped.

(I am tempted to reiterate here that AT&H nor anyone involved with AT&H sold you the original ARF units, we do not have your money, it is not a "refund")

A temporary staff shortage meant that not all 50 were processed this week, but this weekend we will service the last of the batch of 50 Bridges discounted against ARF's. They can be sent out a discounted full kits or discounted Bridges.

The bad news is that we were/are only able to service 50 requests from the first batch. We received 100's.
The good news is that we are receiving 400 Bridges next week, 200 of these are earmarked for ARF replacement. That is 250 ARF Bridges being replaced and this will be completed w/c 30/5

This means that every ARF will have been replaced, and the 200 forward orders dispatched during the first week in June.

You will have 499 other PAW aircraft to spot on your travels. You will be able to spot every ADSB out aircraft as well.

So, please bear with us, we are still going as fast as we possibly can. When you receive an invoice, it means we actually have your Bridge or full unit here, tested. So please pay it immediately and we can then ship it ! Expect some more emails this weekend and expect a large flurry at the end of next week.

General Discussion / Imagine if Wellingtons had PilotAware.
« on: December 15, 2015, 08:39:35 pm »
Hi All,

a bit off topic, but really this petition should be on every flying Internet forum.
Should RAF crews only be recognised if they flew from UK airbases ?

If you agree bravery should be recognised regardless of where you took off from, then maybe you'll join me in signing this petition.

regards,..
