Pilotaware team.
Sherburn aero club has a well stocked shop at the air field and is very popular. I t may be worth giving them a call to see if you could put Pilotaware in the store. They would probably be interested in a demonstration too.

Thank you Eric, I'm using the standard setup. You mention RTL1090 is this the ADSB receiver. As it is my wifi dongle that over heated. I will put it on an extenuation cable when I receive a replacement, and try running it that way.

Eric, I'm interested in how long you keep your Base Station run for... ?  I ask as I have try it twice now and both times it has fried the wifi dongle. Over heated and stopped working.. I ran it for 2 days solid without a break. Then it went down. It was also conected to my network via rj45 so I could monitor on my PC.

Ok may be something in the future......  Thanks for the replays.

Will any of the nav software run directly from the RPI SD card along side Pilotaware? If it will could you not simply add a RPI touchscreen to have a all in one nav and traffic unit. Sorry if it's a silly question. Has any one tried to install nav  software and got it to run on a PI or will not. I would try but don't have a screen.

I have just had a similar problem as you described.  OK elimination, remove everything on the Pi, with the SD card installed with the software.  Now add power, observe the lights on the Pi you should get red on all the time and green flashing.....
If all ok plug in the wifi dongle and repeat as above observing the lights on the Pi. Repeat for all the other USB devices.

My problem was when the wifi was pluged in the red Pi power light turned of halfway through the boot of the Pi . The wifi seemed to be working as it was flashing and I could connect to it (sometimes)

I will explained in another thread how I bust it......

I will order from eBay. Just thought it would be nice to support PAW.  Maybe PAW separate parts could be added at a later date.

I have a simaler situation as John, to take the card home and use a second Rasburry Pi B+ to do the network update via my router. It would be nice to do the update via a mobile at the airfield.

My concern for an explosion in Base station was that anyone can buy a PAW, non flyers, and wannabe's and genuine aviation people. I'm all for the base station set up correctly, Some one at sherburn suggested trying to set up an on screen Radar (Flight Radar 24) for every one to see in the club to monitor traffic around the airfield..... I suggested to them it would be far better to use PAW for very accurate results, We may have an uptake from the suggestion too!

How about having a network of ground stations feeding into FR24...?

It would be easier if the Wifi could be configured to connect to the home network rather than having to use a cable.

To wifi your Pilotaware to your network you simply need a wifi extender, something like the bt one, or one from maplins, there are lots to chose from. Plug your Pilotaware into the wifi extender via the network output rj45  and you now have it connected wifi. You can remove the wifi dongale from the Pilotaware as You now conected via wifi network. It works a treat.
