I’ve also been having these issue recently, I believe it’s an IOS issue. I have noticed within IOS 14 the WiFi settings have changed. There is an option to change your MAC address to each WiFi device you connect to, so you cannot be traced. I have turned this off on trusted WiFi points. I have attached some screenshots with the connection to my home WiFi. I’ll be flying later today and will be doing the same for my PilotAware, so I am hoping this will fix this problem, if not I’m sure there will be a fix soon. Still running last year version of the PilotAware OS (latest release) on a Rosetta.

Sorry unable to attach images, if you go to the settings on your iOS and click on WiFi, then click on the (i) next to your PilotAware connection and turn off Private Address, this might help with this connection issue. I have yet to try as only found this out myself on Saturday.

Happy flying all  :) :)

Hi Lee

The two devices connected were my iPad mini 4 running Skydemon & iphone 8, just paired for a backup. Both running the latest ios 11.4.

I have also just dropped you an email with the two track files from yesterday flight to Fenland.

Morning Lee

This is a PI 3, same one used in the classic, before the upgrade. I’ll be popping up the airfield later and I’ll download all the data and drop ya an email.

Evening All

Has anyone experienced GPS drop outs since upgrading a Classic to a Rosetta. All was ok before the upgrade, I have attached some screenshots so hopefully it can be resolved.

I was getting these drop outs to and from Fenland today.

Hi Peter

I've been using the PowerCore Elite 20000 and I've had no problems, also the battery life is brilliant  :)

Hi Lee

Could you please send me a link for this software, it looks like many new owners of the Rosetta will be running this kernel.

I have a friend who bought one a couple of weeks ago, i'll see what kernel he is running too.

My PAW is also running Kernel 4.14.37-v7, but only because I’m running a fresh ‘full install’ of development software. PAW ‘updates’ are just that - updates. They only update the PilotAware part via USB (.pgp), or Ethernet. They don’t update the Raspberry Pi Kernel.

To update your kernel, you need to download the latest ‘Full Version’ of PilotAware from www.pilotaware.lode.co.uk and do a fresh ‘Full Install’ onto a newly formatted/re-formatted microSD card - which includes reinserting your licence key and all your other Configuration settings. See detailed instructions on www.pilotaware.com

Hi Peter

Yes I done this just under two weeks ago, a full format and install  :(

Hi Lee

Yes my router uses the same IP range, I've even reformatted my USB stick to FAT many times to see if that would work, but to no avail. I have even used another USB stick and still no joy.

All of them works perfectly fine in my PC, as I can copy the relevant files across.

The storage of the USB stick is only 1GB which is plenty for the file transfer, I wonder if I should be using a larger one.

The only difference I can see is being formatted to FAT32, maybe ill have to give this a try  ;)

Afternoon P1LTS

I was wondering how comes you have a very recent version of the kernel 4.14.37-v7+ as per your screenshot above.

I believe the latest version available in software 20180520 is 4.9.35-v7+.

Did you do an update yourself on this??

Technical Support / Upgrading PA via RJ45 on the new Pi3
« on: June 21, 2018, 11:12:46 am »
Morning

When I've upgraded my PA in the past, I was able to use the USB socket to upgrade. But the last few updates this has never worked, my USB storage card has never changed, I guess there might of been a change in the software  :( :(

So my workaround to upgrade my older Pi2 was to removed all the USB sockets and plugged it directly into the router, left 20 mins then upgraded.

When I upgraded to Pi3, I done a fresh install with the latest software 20180520, so how would I go about upgrading this, as the newer Pi3 has its own built in WiFi and you cant unplug this  :-\ :-\

I know my USB stick doesn't work on this unit neither  :-[ :-[

Yes I like the idea of using the internal Bluetooth on the Pi3.  :) :)

I also have the later version of the Bose A20 headset for it to work on.  ;) ;)

Hopefully this will come soon  ;D

Just popped up to the airfield to grab my PA so that I can do a full install of the latest software and the new RTL-SDR v2 is actually blue not black. So the picture illustrated on their website is incorrect, or it's how the picture had been taken.

I have attached a picture of my unit.

Technical Support / Updating the Kernel
« on: June 08, 2018, 02:22:20 pm »
Afternoon

I was wondering if the kernel on the Raspberry Pi can be updated manually, I believe the current version on the PA is 4.9.35-v7+.

The latest version is around 4.14, for example will this fix the slow reboot times as being reported ??

Kind Regards

Hi Lee

Would a reformat of SD card and a fresh install of the latest software resolve this ??
