General Discussion / Re: Garmin 496 and traffic data
« on: April 27, 2017, 08:32:59 am »
Hi Przemek
Just been looking at your work with the 695 Traffic question and wondering if you've progressed?  I'm probably not the only one who'd like to take advantage of the 'blank' traffic screen on the 695.
I'll be watching with interest, good luck!

General Discussion / Re: PilotAware Radar Display on Garmin 695?

Thanks for your reply Lee

I only wish I could write the code!  Yes I was meaning configuration, I'll keep and eye on the subject and see if anybody manages to move forwards, I'll also look to contact the other people who are exploring this issue (the link you pasted), fingers crossed.

Thanks again

Les

General Discussion / PilotAware Radar Display on Garmin 695?
« on: April 25, 2017, 10:43:36 am »
My apologies if this subject has been discussed before, I’ve had a good look but couldn’t find an answer.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 695 fitted in the aircraft, I use that as backup as I'm using SkyDemon on a tablet.  The 695 has a radar look 'traffic' screen (TIS system) which I’d like to use to display the PilotAware Radar.
Leap of faith time, the traffic display on the 695 is driven by just one wire? (normally from the transponder) I'm wondering if the PilotAware traffic signal can be broken out to a USB socket and could then be connected to the 695 to give me 'Radar'?

I know I've papered over some reasonably complex areas but just wondered if it's in any way possible?  I’m happy to handle the Garmin end protocols and baud rates (i.e. I’ll have a go!) and probably ok with configuring the PilotAware USB socket to talk to the Garmin 695 (assuming it’s even possible), my bottom line is which wire (pin number) from the USB cable, will be the ‘TX’ for me to connect to the Garmin, it will have to be a ‘bare wires’ connection to the Garmin 4 wire plug (RX and Ground).
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated!
