General Discussion / PilotAware at Wellesbourne
« on: September 21, 2016, 03:49:41 pm »
A PilotAware unit has been installed at Wellesbourn Airfield Control Tower and is running during the week whilst the airfield is open. Its a PiB+ running as a transmitting ground station with the name WELLESBOURNE GND. If your passing give them a call and let them know that you are also PilotAware. Several other pilots at Wellesbourne have installed or are installing PilotAware so the unit in the tower is a very useful addition for the controllers there.

Several other Airfields are interested in setting up similar ground stations. If you are interested please let us know.

General Discussion / PilotAware Get Together
« on: July 15, 2016, 04:00:40 pm »
I was thinking of suggesting an aviation event at which us Aware Pilots could merge and see lots of like minded pilots on our screens . Originally I thought that the Coventry Wings and Wheels event on 24th July would be good but then found out that Coventry doesn't allow microlights and its just been CANCELLED anyway.

However do you think that its a good idea and have any suggestions for an event at a central location that accepts Group A and Microlights into which we could all Fly in?

What do you think?

General Discussion / Club Presentations

I know that many of you are spreading the word about PilotAware. Thanks for all the sterling work that you are doing. It must be disappointing for many who fire up their PilotAware units and desperately seek for other units to be displayed apart from Mode S and ADSB. The sky is after all a very big place and PilotAware has only been on sale for a month.

So the key thing to help us all, is to spread the good news about PilotAware so we can get as many units out there as possible. As you will see we have produced a Club Flyer that can be customised and posted in your club house or flying club. Additionally we have been visiting flying clubs around the country to demonstrate PilotAware, correct some of the myths and help with installation and operating tips. These have been very popular and well attended.

So, if you would like us to visit your club evening or fly in please let us know so that we can help you to help us to help everyone to 'See and be Seen'.

Thanks

General Discussion / PilotAware Out and About
« on: June 08, 2016, 11:52:54 am »
Now that there are literally hundreds of PilotAware units that have been delivered from Pilotawarehardware.com. It time to get out and use them. However the airspace over the UK is still a big place to go looking for other users. How about we use this thread to let others know where we are going so that us like minded Pilots Aware can See and be Seen by lots of others.

Now I am not advocating aerial train spotting, unless you are into that thing but it would be good if we knew that we were going somewhere where us birds of a feather can flock together to spot PilotAware and ADSB targets.

Obviously the main events will look after themselves, however what about the smaller ones wings and wheels etc where we could give them support and have a reason to fly somewhere.

For example there is a competitions fly in at Fenland this Saturday 11th June and a wings and wheels at Wellesbourne on 19th June

You could even rig up a base station "come on down"

I am sure that you will have other barbecues fly ins etc that will suit locally so use this thread to let us all whats going on and just as importantly what went on.

Fly Safe See and be Seen PilotAware
