Installation
« on: August 09, 2016, 07:47:24 pm »
Hey there.

I downloaded the ZIP file and copied all contents to my SD card, however nothing is happening.  >:( :( :-\

I know the PI is working as another SD running Debian 8 works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi GrimShadow
Did you unpack the zip file. You need to download the contents not the folder itself

Takes about 15 minutes to install itself after you've powered up with the software.

Of course, it won't work without a PilotAware Bridge fitted.

Hi Dave,

Apparently I don't need one according to the manual I downloaded from this site. I am building the device myself. It is a raspberry pi 3 B model with a DVB dongle attached to it. In fact the same dongle depicted in the manual.

Hi
Sorry to inform you but the raspberry pi3 is not supported. You need Rasburry pi2 of the lesser piB+

Hi Richard,

I have just tried my Raspberry Pi 2, it does not work either. I notice a few issues with the install files. It is missing the main config file native to all Linux installations (Yes, Raspbian is a Linux OS). I have a separate image of it here and it installs no problem. This makes me believe that the common issue is the image from PilotAware.

Ok
Have you formatted the SD card as instruction?
Have you unzipped the download pilotaware files onto the SD card and taken them out of the folder and put them directly on to SD card ( root) ?
Insert the card in you Pi2 add power and wait

You say some files are missing.... I had a friend who had the same problem. He was just dragging the files out of the downloaded zip file on to his SD card. This is not correct you must use the correct unpack zip files operation.

Can you plug the pi2 into a TV? To see what's happening

Also what power supply are you using, as some cables just are not good enough to supply the power

You definitely need the Bridge now that it's no longer in the beta testing phase.  Can you tell us where it says you don't please.
regards,
Dave.

Good Day Dave,

Please amend your manuals please as then it is no longer valid if the bridge is an absolute must.

What is the core of PilotAware?  Is it Stratux?

There is still a manual about ADSB only construction here: http://www.pilotaware.com/hardware/

Hmmm
That manual is outdated and needs removing.
ADS-B only, was only ever a stopgap during beta, whilst the RF bridge was in design.

Thx

Stratux is unrelated to PilotAware
