Bose A20 pairing with Rosetta
« on: July 01, 2019, 06:52:50 pm »
Hi There, I have just loaded new version of PilotAware 20190621, and I now try to connect via Bluetooth my Bose A20 headset, however it just scans for the 30 secs and then stops, the Bose is in pairing mode as I connected it to an Ipad to make sure. Anyone done this or could help please?

I use the A20s all the time, and have no issues connecting to this version (or the engineering releases during testing ...]

Is the Bluetooth led blue/purple when you’re trying to pair? (And Bluetooth switched on too ..)

Cheers

Sean, Derek, could this be a version issue of the headsets ?
Is there anything to report regarding versions, date of purchase ...

Bose A20 prior to July 2015 were only comparable with phone connection, and could not be used to stream audio as used with PAW. The control unit has a phone handset symbol rather than the international Bluetooth symbol.  After July 2015 the control was changed to allow streaming audio.

Headsets can be modified, but it ain’t cheap.

Mine are 2017 too.....I originally had the old bluetooth module but changed it for the new one that does audio.....I think the cost was around £150 to change the module....
Setting up with PAW was a little faffy.....as mentioned press the scan button on the PAW.....I think I then pressed the bluetooth button on the headset.....I did it a couple of times but it eventually showed up with the mac address and bose written at the end of it on the PAW

Does sound like you have the old headset, possibly sat on a shelf for a year :-(

Question from a newbie on here!
Does anyone know if the Bluetooth in Mk1 Lightspeed Zulus work ok or are they like early Bose not suitable for audio?

Form the LightSpeed website for the 'Zulu Original' as they call them.

Bluetooth Connectivity
Full stereo music streaming (A2DP) compatibility allows wireless connection from Bluetooth phones or other devices.

Only one way to be 100% sure.

I just double checked headset and tried to connect it to iPhone then Ipad to listen to music, worked first time, so headset deffo the right one. Can I connect the Rosetta to any other device to check it? Will PAW give audio warnings through Sky Demon on Ipad? I could use that? or is it possible that the BT is just broke on Rossetta?

Del-Boy,

PilotAware won’t give audio warnings through SD via Bluetooth in the way you mean, but you can connect it to give audio warnings through virtually any Bluetooth speaker or headset. I used several ‘domestic type’ BT headsets and speakers during testing and all worked as expected.

De-Boy69,
Though you do once mention Rosetta, can you confirm that your PAW is a Rosetta unit, not the earlier classic?
