Frustrated. GPS Problem & Now Wireless Password Not Valid After Update?

Hi,

I surrender!  Politely...I am a little bit frustrated.

After taking 3 flights to get my PAW Classic actually working 100%, I had already penned my "PAW" is awesome post" and start singing from the roof tops!  However, when flying with what would be the 4th flight at the weekend, the GPS just did not function at all and I had to switch to using location services on my iphoneX to continue using Skydemon.

Before reaching out to support I thought I would update to the latest release (May 2018).

The update took fine and the device rebooted. However, when trying to test, now the previous wireless password for hotspot is not working?

I did a search on the the forum and I can see a suggestion to connect the device to the home router.  I have done that and it appears that the  ethernet port has the same Static IP as the PAW wireless network 192.168.1.1.  I am not sure if this is correct or causing issues, but I cannot connect to the configuration page to reset the Wireless password!

Have I missed something? If anyone has any suggestions to get past the first issue of being about to reset the Wifi password I would be very grateful?

Was the hotspot connected to your iPhone, could you browse to the home page http://192.168.1.1 ?

When you say GPS did not function, I assume you mean, when connecting from SkyDemon you had a popup saying "cannot connect to GPS", is this correct ?

What type of 3rd party connection do you use (All of these supported by PilotAware) ?
- Flarm
- GDL90
- PilotAware

Before reaching out to support I thought I would update to the latest release (May 2018).

I have never heard this before - but I guess is possible (erroneously)
were you prompted for the password, or simply a failure to connect ?
Did you try 'forget this network' on your iPhone ?

If your home router uses the same subnet 192.168.1.x as PilotAware - this can cause issues with conflicts
solution
- turn off Pilotaware
- remove wifi dongle
- reboot pilotaware
- this will now have a DHCP allocated by your router

Connecting To The Hotspot Issue

OK, the wireless 'password issue' is now resolved.  I was able to connect to the hotspot via my mac and the 'known' password was accepted.  I then followed your advice and "Forgot" the network on my phone and then that allowed me to reconnect to the network as expected. 

PAW Not Working Issue

My PAW classic is still not working with only 2 greens on the configuration page.

I have taken screenshots of pages with data on them, so maybe you can deduce something from this info:

OK, I ordered this 'Stratux' GPS mouse via Amazon Prime which arrived yesterday.

This one looked like the one on the PAW Hardware site, I didnt know the specs, but took a punt. 

I tested it yesterday on the ground and I got 5 greens straight away on the dashboard and Skydemon connected with no problems displaying traffic. Woohoo!

I am flying later this afternoon so looking forward to testing in the air.  Does anyone know if the 'Stratux Vk-162' is OK spec for PAW? I noticed references to VK-172 out there, but no where to buy.

Hi Moto,

Yes, it’s basically the same ‘innards’ in a different case with an extended cable. I have been using one since 2015, so you should be fine.
