iPad traffic warning + background noise
« on: February 07, 2018, 02:15:46 pm »
Installed new software and flew with it for a few hours, IPad visual warning of traffic flashes up and disappears very quickly so difficult to read warning, is there a way to extend time period warning is displayed and is this an IPad or PilotAware setting if it can be user adjusted.
Also noticed background noise over radio both tx and rx (similar to fast heartbeat) fairly sure it wasn’t there before the upgrade.

I presume you are referring to SkyDemon ?
and I am guessing you have Mode C/S enabled, did you notice a ring around your A/C at the same time ?
I have seen this banner myself, I think it is an SD issue - I need to ask Tim to investigate.
To confirm is it a black banner reporting traffic behind (I know it flashes quickly)

I dont believe anything has changed in S/W to cause this.
These issues are usually induced.
are you using an isolator in the path of the audio ?

Thx

Headset noise can be overcome by putting a ground-loop isolator on the PAW audio-jack (if you are feeding audio from your PAW to your headset or to your radio).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IETQQQK

If the noise is now on your radio, without the PAW audio being used as a feed, you may need to ensure a complete separation of the power supply to the PAW, so it is not attached to your radio circuit.  I am not an electronics expert, but I am sure there is someone here who can elucidate.

Brian

Just to update this, I managed to easily reproduce in SkyDemon,
sent a bug report to Tim Dawson, he reproduced,
he fixed in his engineering version,
so at some time this will ripple into a customer release of SkyDemon

Thx
Lee

*** update from Tim Dawson ***
It'll be within the next two weeks. Version 3.9.2.

That would be neat if sound could be reproduced on IPad
