PilotAware.20150926

Lee,

I installed the latest release of both PilotAware and CollisonAware; the good thing is that the connection to my iPad mini is very stable now and have been in test mode for a few hours already (all be it in receive mode only, as I have just ordered the ARF board).

One thing I did notice on SkyDemon is that the aircraft icons are showing what looks like the transponder Hex codes in addition to the +/- altitude etc.  This seems to clutter up the screen somewhat, and I can't see the value add of having these codes displayed....any chance of removing them from the display, or is this a feature that has been requested specifically?

Great work - really chuffed with the unit - and so were some of my flying buddies at Blackbushe!

Hi Hugh

Regarding the screen text, you are right I added the ICAO code for display.
The difficult thing is everybody has a different opinion regarding what to display, so I think I need to make it configurable via the web interface.
Options are ICAO, flight number/reg, or nothing
(In addition to relative altitude that is)
Thx

I'd vote for registration. Don't know how cluttered the full 5 digits are, so perhaps even just showing the last two might be a useful option to offer.

Lee,

Making it a configuration option would be great.

My preference is for nothing but the +/- altitude.  As a pilot I'm really interested in the proximity as opposed to the code - unless of course I need to report an Airprox!!! gulp!

The down side of configurable is that you don't get repeatability so there may be some confusion not good in aviation
So I would vote for Registration

I guess registration would be good as we can distinguish between ADS-B traffic and PilotAware traffic but as previously stated, the most important thing is to see traffic warning in close proximity in any form.

Web configuration then user choice would be great. I'm in favour of aircraft reg over hex code.

I'd choose reg also.  Makes more sense of other callsigns on radio.
