I am confusing myself too Lee
Somewhere I saw there was an update which is version 20170706. Its on the pilotaware lode. This is an update to the one on general release that I was using last week....however I do not know what the changes were !!
Everything now works on mine just removing the DNS option....Does this help ?

Removing either field in the static connection settings does work....however removing the DNS entry only, stops the warning coming up about no internet connectivity in the wifi settings page

Hi Lee,
just tried build 20170711 and I'm pleased to report it is working with both my iPhone and iPad Mini 4 Cellular

I do not see the wifi icon on either device after connecting, the connection says "no internet" and I can access the pilotaware home page and the internet via 4G

great work

Out of interest what was the fix as I still a router and DNS configuration as 192.168.1.1 ?

thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian
Could you also post an update on the SkyDemon forum for the same issue ?

The fix was to NOT issue a Router Advertisement from PilotAware,
This was pretty tricky !

Thx
Lee

Wow, well done, haven't touched RIP, BGP and other routing stuff in years!

Re Skydemom sure do you have a link or subject title? I didn't raise it so no idea what I'm looking for but happy to post an update...

Thanks Lee...The patch is great....works with the new direct PilotAware tab connection on SkyDemon a treat with or without 3g/4g connectivity...

Is it me or does the latest kernel version 4.4.34 take twice as long to boot now....??

I have just update SkyDemon too, love the new PilotAware connection option. Using it I don't see the seeking satellite message straight in to the a/c position.... Great the combination just keeps getting better!

Oh and also confirm I can still access data via cellular data while connected to Pilotaware with the test update.

Thanks
Adrian

Hi
I've just update my PAW to the latest 20170706 and updated the kernel to 4.4.34 (and sky demon to the latest) and now I get this problem mentioned in the thread of no longer having 3g/4g connectivity when my iPhone is connected to to the paw wifi and its driving me mad. I've read the previous comments in  this thread about a "solution" but afraid it may as well be written in dutch. Can someone advise (in simpleton terms) how I get back my 4g connectivity while connected to PAW? - never had this problem with previous versions.???

As  mentioned by someone earlier in the thread I tried changing the iPhone setting for the PAW wifi on my iPhone to static 192.168.1.2 with mask 255.255.255.0 (no router nor DNS entry) and although this then let my iPhone use 3g/4g for internet connectivity while connected to the paw WIFI, when I then tried to "fly" in sky demon and selected "pilot aware" rather than as previous flarm, skydemon just sat there with a message "connecting to device" eventually timing out saying "connection to gps is lost"

thanks

Hi Fleagle, I had the same issue with mine and managed to resolve it. I wish I could say exactly what I did, but it suddenly started working as advertised. Steps I Know I took are
1. Checked SD location Services are set to 'Always'
2. Shut all applications down.
3. Rebooted my iPad
4. fire up PAW and connect to its WiFi Hot Spot
5. Check it has a GPS fix (green light on home page)
6. Start SD and then 'Use PilotAware'

Can you try these please and let me know how you get on? Lee is aware that I had this issue, now we are two :-)

Cheers
Ian

Thanks Ian - have tried as you suggest (and many other things)  but still no joy. Basically, this boils down to 2 things.

1) have my iphone connect dynamically to the PAW WIFI hot spot - SD connects and shows traffic but has no internet connection so it throws out the connectivity error box every 30seconds or so. plus of course no other app on my phone can see the internet.

or

2) connect my iPhone statically to the PAW wifi (missing out DNS  & router IP addresses) - This allows my phone to defer to 4g internet connectivity while connected to PAW wifi but SD then won't connect to PAW to get any traffic or gps information.

Lee - fix urgently required please - this surely is a common fault for all who have upgraded to latest software and Kernel?

thanks
Neil.

I have a fix but want to thoroughly test

Static ip and udp are incompatible,
If you want to assign a static ip in ios, then you need to use the old flarm connection method

Thx
