Licensey stuff
« on: February 11, 2017, 05:02:06 am »
Hi all.

I am upgrading a friend's PAW. He has an originally home built one (R Pi B+) that has been updated to a shield.
He now wants ModeC/S options so we'll fit his kit onto a R Pi 2.

I can't remember if it is the Pis mac address, or the wireless one that is 'licensed'.

Also, which option on the license generator webpage should we use, if necessary?

Thanks,
Rob.

Rob, do you mean shield or Bridge, IIRC shield was the name used for the old wild things card, where we now have a purpose designed Bridge from the PAW team.

Lee has helped others with a licence transfer before, he'll be along soon.

Hi All
No need for license transfer
The bridge is supplied with license, you rederm the code supplied with the bridge

The setup in question has been updated to the new bridge and the license code was redeemed then, but against a RPi B+.

It has been working well for the last 6 months in that configuration.

We now want to update the setup to a RPi 2 so that Mode S / C and chatty functionality becomes available.

My understanding is it will need a new license as the RPi's mac address is going to change.

The license page at http://pilotaware.lode.co.uk seems to cover a bridge purchase or a system purchase.
Our circumstance seems to not be covered. I guess it's more like a renewal, which nobody is doing yet.

I hope that clarifies things...

Regards,
Rob
