booting for the first time
« on: September 12, 2015, 01:14:51 pm »
Apologies if this has already been covered.  I've assembled the unit, downloaded the software onto an 8gb card and plugged in, but the monitor just says no signal........ I'm using a computer monitor with a vga to hdmi adaptor. I struggled with this previously just trying to use the raspberry pi and had someone else sort out the problem - changing the config.txt file - I've looked for the same file on the pilotaware software but its not there. When I plug in the raspberry pi with my original card it's still working fine.

Please can someone tell me what I need to do?

thanks

Anne

Hi Anne,

Hmm, no signal sounds like a hardware fault, even without software you should get
the 'rainbow' screen
Can you also check that the contents of PilotAware, not the PilotAware folder itself are
placed in the root of the SD card

thx

Thanks Lee

I had copied the whole folder, not the contents :(

However now the monitor light goes green, instead of remaining amber, but I still don't get anything on the screen?

I don't think its a hardware problem as when I swap to my old raspberry pi card it all works fine?

thanks

Anne

Success!! I think

After looking at the raspberry pi forums I have copied the config.txt file from my 'good' card onto my pilotaware card and that seems to have done the trick. Just waiting for it to install now.

thanks for your help and apologies for not reading your instructions better.

I have no idea, I have just downloaded the image, and tried here.
Is now installing ...

This sounds like a general PI issue, rather than PilotAware.

Don't know whatto suggest to be honest.
Did you format the disk before loading the data,
and did the disk appear to have all the space that it should, ie 4GB ?

Can you paste the contents of your config.txt file in case others have a similar issue.
I am guessing it is something related to the monitor ?

Thx

config.txt attached.

I'm still not trouble free - it seems to have installed, but I don't get a stream of boot messages, I'm back to a blank screen?

Can't seem to get the wifi working.
I've got the screen back putting my config.txt file back on it
I've got a vilros nano usb wifi dongle and I think it maybe has the wrong chip in it - it was supplied with the raspberry pi so I thought it would work, so next plan is to get one that definitely has the rt5370 chip in it and try again
