Multiple iPad connections possible?

I don't know if this has been covered anywhere else but can't find anything relevant.

Is it (or should it) be possible to connect multiple SkyDemon 'clients' to a single PilotAware box?

I tried it but it fails to connect on the second attachment. I am assuming the 'Air Connect Key' which is set at 6000 needs another one setup in PilotAware?

My scenario is that both me and my co-owner who regularly fly our Pup together, both use SD, and the PNF can keep an eye on the route, things ahead etc. So having two SD clients attached to the PilotAware box would be really handy as the PNF can also then keep an eye on traffic.

Obviously only ONE SD client/iPad should be providing the GPS location data but surely there is nothing that should prevent a second (or more) clients from reading the GPS data, and handy if this is a non-cellular iPad.

If this can be done, can someone indicate how. If not, perhaps it could be an additional 'licensing' thing if/when it goes 'commercial', so the main box has a single user license and an additional user(s) can be added and perhaps configured either via the app or via the web server as the existing 'license' is.

Interesting I had the same request a number of times at the LAA Rally.

Yes this is possible, without getting too technical, it is a simple matter of spawning multiple
threads for each additional WiFi connection.

As you say only one device can provide the GPS input, which makes sense.

I wouldn't propose to make this an additional license feature, I am not a proponent of a 'nickle and dime'
license approach.

It just needs coding up and a bit of testing.
Would be prudent to set a max number of connections for resource reasons, eg 4 simultaneous

Happy to test as and when you implement it.

It would certainly be a real bonus. Currently I 'share' my Bluetooth GPS signal off my Bad Elf Pro+ with my co-owner when we fly together as he's got a wifi only iPad so this would be the next 'extension' to that.

Agree that there should be a limit. Two would be fine for me but I can see some people wanting more. Currently the SkyDemon single license limit is two concurrent devices, but we each have our own SD license. Perhaps when I get my iPhone 6s Plus!! I can run 2 simultaneously when I'm flying  8)

There may also be a call (need?) for say one SD connection, one RunwayHD connection etc ... so perhaps having a mix'n'match ability would be useful?

I don't think it would make a difference to be honest what the NAV software was (so long as it was supported)

Just a +1 from me for multiple Nav connections - we regularly run 2 devices on longer trips.

Thanks very much
