FX fixed install - temperature and WiFi
« on: August 22, 2025, 08:49:30 pm »
We’re thinking of permanently installing an FX in a PA 32.
Looking at installing the external aerials on the underside of the aircraft behind the nose gear. Does that sound reasonable?

For the FX unit itself, we’re thinking of putting that in the front luggage bay

Couple of questions on that.
1) how sensitive is a unit to heat? It does get quite warm in the front luggage bay.
2) how about Wi-Fi? Signal strength? We can have a play with this before we commit but I understand there may be a way to boost Wi-Fi strength?

Finally, for the GPS mouse sounds like just leaving it on the coming is the best option?

We have no real definitive data on this, suffice to say all components are for consumer operation rather than industrial or military

The Wifi strength is default set at the maximum which can legally be operated
