Request - new standard non-beta software release - SOLVED
« on: September 22, 2024, 09:14:54 pm »
Our Fuji is on a beta release, my travelling Rosetta is on the Official version. Can we
a) have a new non-beta official release? Or
b) should I just grow up, blow a new microSD of the official release and stop whining.

I know, it's b), what can I say, my blood sugar is low and I'm hangry  :o

[SOLUTION] - You can revert with an option in the PAw menu

Last time I looked in the update menu on the Rosetta, you could revert back to official from beta.

But it's been a while as I've spent some time on an FX... tap me if you want me to look tomorrow...

I think it doesn't work like that. The app to do the uploads is great, but AFAIK, you can't go back.
You can turn off 'load beta', but that's not the same as 'revert to official'
First world problems, I'm still blown away by how much more I see with PAw. I recommend to anyone that you filter the verbal warnings through SD, it really helps (me and my mission profile at least).
Thankyou

I'm not talking about the app and I didn't mention it. I said the update menu on the Rosetta.

I may look tomorrow if I'm at the strip.

I think the clue is here, check the attached web GUI, with a downgrade option.

Please test, I could be wrong...

Thanks for posting that @steveu,

A timely reminder that there is more than one way to skin a .... (oops, probably not PC). We get so hung up these days on expecting ‘Apps’ to do everything for us, that it’s easy to forget (or simply overlook) the basics.

I had a User on the phone last night bemoaning the fact that the Updater App was supposed to have automatically updated his Rosetta to his new licence key using iGRID, ‘til I pointed out that he doesn't have iGRID installed yet....  :-\

Best Regards

UPDATE: pressed that button, successfully reverted to the last official release
Thanks for the help.
I am now experimenting with different aerial positions and checking on Vector :)

Another update
But, I did read on another thread (Change SSID on FX...) that there would be another official release of the Rosetta software imminently.
 :P - I can wait.  :D

I was helping a friend to update his license for his PAw today. His software was also old (2022), so I told him how to update it.
I can't find a statement of what's changed in the 10/2024 official version. Enhancements / bug fixes. It doesn't have to be a big list, I assume bug fixes / stability is most of it.

Hi Pete,

No 'official' release notes (that I am aware of), but most of the recent work has been on improving data exchange between airborne devices and the ground networks via our ATOM and cellular networks. In particular a lot of work has been done to improve the way the devices interact with each other and with cellular masts, which has significantly improved the speed of connection and reliability when using iGRID. This has significantly improved the availability of traffic and weather information and also allowed the automatic upload of future software releases whenever iGRID is in use and has spare capacity.

To that end, I strongly advise all users to update to the most recent 20241006 software version as soon as possible and where you have not already done so, consider adding iGRID to obtain maximum benefits from your PilotAware installation. Please also pass this message on to any other users with whom you are in contact and who may not be regular Forum Users.

Best Regards
