Please can someone explain the difference between "Base Station" and Rosetta drop down options.

We seem to have fairly decent coverage on both PAW and ADSB following our recent external antennae installation with Base Station selected but zero hits on "Rosetta"

Steve,

For those planes using iGrid (cellular link), we are able to record the planes that the Rosetta or Classic hears. Unlike 'Basestation which measure how basestations hear the plane, 'Rosetta' measures how well the plane hears other planes. This is usually substantially less than what the basestations hear as plane-to-plane do not have the benefit of the high gain base station antennas.

You will only see data under 'Rosetta' if you have iGrid in operation.

Thank you so much for the reply Chris. :)

To confirm my understanding of what you wrote. "Rosetta" is a receiving rather than transmission test.  If we had perfectly functioning kit (inc iGrid) but flew in an environment where we were the only a/c in the area, we would be seen by multiple ground stations and thus would have a corresponding plot on Vector / Base Stations for that flight but we would not hear any other a/c directly as there would be none to be heard so there would be a zero return on Vector / Rosetta.

Makes sense as we do often fly from our private strip after most of the local airfields have closed.   :)

That's correct Steve.
