Radar display device
« on: November 04, 2020, 12:57:43 pm »
This has prob been done to death somewhere but I wouldn’t know where to find it, sorry.
Thinking of getting some sort of second hand phone, as big a screen as possible and WiFi capable.
For a separate radar display.
Question.
Does it need a SIM card installed to run or not?
Scuse my lack of computer literacy.

I’ve put this in Technical as well, is that ok?

Sorry to drag this back again. More questions.
I’ve got a suitable device but weather has stopped any testing.
When the radar screen is displayed on my phone, iPad or android phone the display puts North up and aircraft icon up.
I tried it in the car once, thick fog so no traffic to report.
Does the compass rose swing round to track up (traffic relative to my track) when something is detected?
I imagined it would behave like a DI keeping my track up?

It seems like you have no position fix

Yes it rotates for track up, and should work in the car as a good test
Thx

Thanks Lee.
Tried it in the car, gps chip was partially unplugged. No problem, does what I expected.
