DIY 'Radar' square TFT display
« on: February 02, 2020, 07:45:48 pm »
I have put together my own in-aircraft 'radar' display based on a Pi3a, a square touchscreen TFT, and written some scripts to automatically connect to the PilotAware WiFi at powerup, go fullscreen etc. etc.

However, is there a simple way to have the full circular radar display show on the screen? Fast traffic approaching from the rear is just as important as traffic from the front, when flying at microlight speeds. Having the bottom of the radar screen chopped off (it still does this on an Android phone) feels a little compromised for visibility of what might be fast approaching from behind. And not having a 180deg capable neck, it can be tricky to keep a visual directly behind  :)

Perhaps the V+/V-/H+/H- buttons could be individually relocated to the corners of the screen to achieve this? Or alternatively, when the 'Hide' button is touched/pressed, the radar display could move up to fit on the screen?

Cheers! Rob.
