OK, Had a look at the diagrams now. V5 of the Becker manual diagram 2.8.1 is how it should be wired. Moffrestorer has said the same
P9, Pin 2 has nothing to do with GPS if a parallel encoder is used and is your GPS data in
Quote
Use connector J8 pin2 for GPS/EN, if a parallel altimeter is connected.
J8, Pin 2 should be grounded to enable GPS

P9, Pin 1 goes to A1
P9, Pin 2 goes to A2
P9, Pin 3 goes to A4
P9, Pin 8 goes to  RS232 data in from PAW(GPS)
P9, Pin 14 goes to B1
P9, Pin 15 goes to B2
P9, Pin 16 goes to B4
P9, Pin 17 goes to C1
P9, Pin 18 goes to C2
P9, Pin 19 goes to C4
P9, Pin 20 goes to D4

P9, Pin 11 goes to 10-33V DC supply
P9, Pin 12 goes to 10-33V DC supply
P9, Pin 13 goes to Ground
P9, Pin 25 goes to Ground

A couple of minor errors above, Ian - surely it should read...

J8 pin 2 should be grounded to enable GPS. (When using a parallel altitude encoder.)

Also P9, pin 12 can’t be both 10-33V DC Supply and Ground - the second one should be P9, pin 13.

From Chris’s previous final report, if using the FTDI lead it should be wired as follows...

Quote
Once I’d configured the correct USB port that the FDTI cable is plugged into the red transmit LED in the converter started flashing approx once per second. With ADS-B Enable (P9-2) grounded the transponder still indicated “Failure”. This was sorted by reversing the cable connections as suggested by Peter and Ian, so Orange wire to P9-9, black to P9-8. Grounded P9-13, P9-25.

I got “failure” with the port configuration selected to “Trig” but  it was OK with it configured to “Funke”.

This should produce a positive result.

Regards all

Peter

Do you just want to check your emitting, or the SIL values etc

Also just to say you need to connect a switch to j8 pin 2 so you can disable in case you are testing other things in the hangar etc in case you don’t get gps in your hangar or the transponder will return failure I need to get a print out of someone’s traffic near me  for caa mod 7 application thanks

Well done Matthew,

Glad to hear you have got things sorted. Sorry I can’t help with the testing. I am based up at East Fortune, but am away up the west coast of Scotland (by car) this weekend. Hopefully you will find someone local to capture your test shot.

Best Regards

Peter
