Rosetta stops working when in flight
« on: July 18, 2019, 10:38:49 am »
I have a Rosetta unit with recommended Anker power supply, utilising the power lead supplied.
When I set the unit up in my ofice at home, it works perfectly with the wifi, no matter how many times I stop and re-start it.
When in flight, it only works intermittently. As part of the elimination process, I have used a different power supply and a different power lead with the same intermittent results.
I am wondering if the issue might be related to the vibration in the aircraft or the temperature on the top of the dash in the cockpit.
It will be interesting to know if other users have had a similar experience.

Hi Cliff

Can you define what is intermittent ?

Is it the connection to the WiFi hotspot ?

or the connection to your NAV Software ?
and what is the error message ?

What device are you connecting ?

Thx
Lee

I had a similar issue whereby it would work perfectly sat on the table in the garden... put in on the coaming and I'd get regular drop-outs.

Are you using an Android tablet?

I RTM and found this .... It worked for me...

Android devices encompass a broad range of technologies. If you are having problems with WIFI disconnects this can often be solved by ensuring that the Android power saving facility is turned OF

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your post. On my last flight it powered up and worked perfectly at the start, but failed to work following a lunch stop with the aircraft sitting on the ground with the Rosetta remaining on the dash. In the very bright conditions, with a need to get on with departure it is not easy to try and look at the LEDs.
Am planning to fly again this Thursday, so will try and take more careful note.

Cliff,

It is still not clear what the issue you saw was, could you re-read my questions I posted
The devil is in the detail and this information is required to solve your issue
