I've just removed pilotaware classic from the plane and renewed my licence / upgraded to 20190621.  Having a nightmare, as soon as I change the wifi network name from Pilotaware ----- to (my aircraft callsign) as I had it previously, I have the following problem;
Although my iPad can see the wi fi (callsign) it just says there is a network error and the network cannot be accessed.  The only way to see the pilotaware wi fi is to retain the original pilotaware network and not change it.  Dave

This is exactly as I have my PAW setup,  my aircraft callsign.   Works just fine on the new software.

It surprises me how many PAW users don't make this simple change as it makes it so much easier to connect to the right wifi hotspot if the iPad doesn't autoconnect.

Dave,

The PilotAware WiFi Hotspot appears on your phone or tablet ‘WiFi Settings screen’ to allow the phone or tablet to connect to PilotAware after it has booted up. When you plug in a new card for the first time, it takes 15 - 20 minutes after powering up the unit for PilotAware to partition the card and unpack the software, before it boots up and gets to this point. I suspect you either haven’t left the unit long enough or have inadvertently interfered with the unpacking and setup process by for example unplugging the power supply or removing the card.

First check is to make sure the card is correctly installed in the card slot and hasn’t slipped inside the case (easy to do on a Classic).

Next, can you connect the unit to a monitor (or your home TV) with an HDMI cable, then power up the unit and let us know what you see on screen. You should get a rainbow coloured ‘splash’ screen, then see the software unpacking, then eventually a load of rolling text lines ending in a login prompt. ( You don’t actually ‘log in’ but the PAW WiFi Hotspot won’t appear ‘til the unit gets to this point.)

If it doesn’t get there, the card may have been corrupted during the unpacking process.

Regards

Peter

Hi Dave
If you have red green flashing lights, I suspect all is well
I am not sure if you have successfully connected to the Pilotaware hotspot, this is the first step, please report back
Thx

Hi Lee/Peter,
Just managed to get into the device. Maybe I hadn’t waited long enough.
Many thanks for the support

I have just inserted the new 20200906 SD card into the Rosetta and followed the download instructions. I then connected over pilot aware wifi to my iPad and went to my pilotaware homepage where I see the message: Version (2022101) license expired.

I renewed my license in Feb. and received the Software Key on Feb. 17. but failed to update the key until just now. Is this the problem - that I've done a software update on an expired license?

Thanks in advance for your help with this. Kerry

Hi Kerry,

No problem, simply re-enter the new licence key in the PilotAware configuration settings, and the device will re-activate.

I've written up a new troubleshooting guide to help with licencing queries.
