UAT Weather low power option
« on: May 29, 2019, 06:54:26 pm »
Hi,
some time ago I added a second "low" power SDR in the hope of trying the weather reception, however after ground running the box I was unhappy with both the heat and current, I realize others may not share my concern.  Anyway, Stratux is now offering a true low power UAT USB radio (see link below) does anyone  (@Lee?) know if this is supported or will be supported by Pilotaware?

Interesting. Wonder if there will be a 1090 version.

Question:
I would like to order this new radio and have it shipped to Europe... do you have any idea when global shipping will be available?
Answer:
Stock is on the way to Amazon’s fulfillment centers and should be available for international purchase in just a few days. Be aware that the radio does receive “FLARM” and p3i signals but we have not yet released software support for this feature, only UAT reception.

It Arrived today :)

Been running it for a while and no noticeable heat output detected from it.

Could we have this supported in Pilotaware?

I'm happy to try out any test builds, I assume example code can be pulled from the Stratux opensource project if needed, that's assuming a change is needed to support it?

it ID's as: USB 0403:7028   Stratux Stratux UATRadio v1.0

Thanks Adi

Hi Adi,

This is a totally different beast to an SDR, but it can be incorporated, I have been in touch with Chris about adding this in.
The question is the support and proliferation of UAT Weather
Thx

Hi,
I was just wondering if this would possibly be done before 13th July as I’m planing a trip south and through the test area on that day? Not a problem if not...

Highly unlikely
Not seeing much demand for this at all
