Different GPS in Rosetta
« on: September 16, 2018, 10:05:30 am »
Hi,
I have a diy Pilotaware classic which I upgraded to a Rosetta and PI3B, so it uses the vk172 GPS.
Yesterday I saw a new Shiny Rosetta and when removing the usb cover I noticed it had a GPS with a bigger aerial, possibly a GPYes as used by Stratux?

I don’t see these for sale on the Pilotaware hardware accessories site, in fact the parts side in general looks a bit depleted.

Can anyone confirm what GPS Rosetta’s use? And where to buy the, from?

I don't think it's available to buy separately from PilotAware but yes, I think it's the Stratux one with the larger antenna.

Hi

The Stratux GPS is available on Amazon.com, shipped to the UK for a not unreasonable charge.  Non scientific testing does show it to be able to gain and keep a valid GPS position in more difficult reception environments than the original classic GPS.  YMMV.
