PI 3B with original PilotAware Bridge board
« on: June 27, 2018, 08:52:44 pm »
Hi all,
I ask for a friend, no honestly, I have already upgraded via the rosetta DIY kit.

Will the old bridge board work with the latest image and a Pi 3B ? I realise the license number will need changing.

If so what are the advantages:
Faster process thus handling multiple connections better and processing of mode C contacts?
     Integrated WIFI, one less dongle?

Disadvantages (if any)
    Greater power drain?

thanks Adi

It works fine! My Unit used an existing Bridge from RPi 2.
Use latest Software.

Hi again Adi,

Yup, you've pretty much hit the nail right on the head. Definitely worth doing IMO if the 'Classic' layout still meets your friend's needs - e.g. if the PAW is 'fitted' and already using external antennas.

Best Regards

Peter
