I wonder if the OP has had his issue resolved?

TW, what is supplying your GPS location for TPx?

A GNS430W. At the time, at my request my avionics installer was happy to connect it to my Trig TT31 (SIL=0) and I was happy to argue the case, in court if necessary, that I was enhancing flight safety, not compromising it, by doing so even though it wasn't 'approved'. Now of course all the regulatory requirements are in place for me to transmit at a higher SIL, which I do.

PAW is a great complement as a receiver device, as it detects ADS-B and just about everything else.

I may be unpopular for saying this here, but if you can only afford one device, then your priority should be to -make yourself as conspicuous as possible to the greatest number of people- whilst complying with the approved standard, so you should buy the SkyEcho.

FTAOD I think the PAW devices are great, and I have a Rosetta (and previously a Classic), but my first priority was to get ADSB-out capability, which I did in my aircraft via a Mode S-ES transponder over eight years ago.

Thanks, I hadn’t spotted it hadn’t uploaded properly.

Indeed, it could be bad data that Tim D has received, or correct but misleading data.

Perhaps it is a mapping issue

The image below shows a route heading eastbound from Wellesbourne at a scale of 1:250k. I’ve dropped a waypoint onto the centre of the Gaydon former runway, and you can clearly see that it’s possible to be right of that but left of the ‘disused’ symbol when using a normal aviation chart scale.

A note to Tim Dawson requesting that he review his mapping data might be in order.

How close to Gaydon were you and was it a very windy day? ;)

What does the SD log itself show on the chart?

The current SD chart certainly appears to map Gaydon more or less correctly.

Looking at the aerial photography for the Gaydon disused symbol as marked on the chart appears to centre it in the large house on the south-east edge of the disused airfield.

Peter,

You won’t get both the traffic display options on one device. It’s either-or.

Below a certain screen size you get the separate screen, above that you see the resizeable panel at the bottom of the main chart display.

@ExfirePro - no offence taken, we’re all trying to help Trevor here!

For clarification, to get to the full screen traffic radar on an iPhone (and an Android one by the sound of it  :) ) you touch the SkyDemon ‘bubble’ top left when in Navigation mode, and select ‘Traffic’ from the pop up, but this option will not appear until a connection to PAW device is established (and possibly the first traffic message has been received).

I’m not sure I agree with Graham’s statement above that ‘...the traffic radar won’t appear until it receives it’s first positional target’ as I’ve certainly seen it with no traffic showing.
Yes, the SD radar display is often present without itself displaying traffic, when any traffic is beyond its fairly limited range. However, I’m sure it was my experience in the early days when I was experimenting with settings that the radar panel wouldn’t pop up on a tablet until the first traffic message was passed to SD by PAW.

I was unaware that the full screen option wasn’t available on Android phones.

On a tablet, the traffic radar won’t appear until it receives its first positional target, and it will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Touching it will provide some options.

On a phone, the radar is displayed as an alternate full screen, accessed by touching the SD logo bubble, and selecting the option from the pop up.

All of this in navigation mode, obviously, but you can test it by spawning traffic in simulation mode.

Technical Support / Re: Cannot remove Group-ID to Show Transponder Code

LAA TL 3.03 definitely refers to seeing a squawk on the PAW traffic screen, yet the screenshot it shows has the squawk as blank on the top line, with the text implying that the aircraft is likely to be the top line!

Perhaps a combination of the PAW Traffic screen shot and a 360Radar/FR24 screen shot might convince them?

Aaah, I see.

Lee will have to comment whether the squawk is being overwritten by the PAW unit at the transmit end, or by the browser at the receive end.

There must be a way round it, AIUI plenty of people have done this to validate their ADSB with the LAA (I’m not one of them as I fly certified).

Does your transponder need to be swept by a radar in order to send out the squawk, which would make it appear? [sound of straws being grasped]

General Discussion / Re: Unsecured wifi and the problems it causes

Peter,

I can’t believe that I’ve ever connected to a random Leicester based Heli before, ever. I go there once every couple of years.

I also changed my SSID to include my aircraft reg, and secured with a password, from the day I started using PAW.

Thanks for the suggestions though.  :)

That was the first thing I checked - the iPadOS setting is ‘Ask to join new networks’ and it’s toggled on on all my devices.
