Hi Peter

Yes it's definately the latest SW version. His PAW is a fixed installation, I should get the TRK file on Tuesday

A friend sent me this. He was flying Andrewsfield to Stapleford. G-ELEN was outside a hangar being prepped for flight.

As he taxied past G-ELEN, his pilotaware put it over his aircraft in Skydemon. It remained there until he got three quarters of the way to Stapleford, warning him all the way, at which point he switched off his PAW due to the annoyance.

G-ELEN remained on the ground for the duration of his flight.

He sent me the attached screenshot and is using the latest PAW software and I can see nothing untoward with his configuration. I've asked him to send me the track log for that trip.

I have experienced and diagnosed bad manufacture of a  JuiceBitz cable here http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,1601.msg17533.html#msg17533

Technical Support / Re: Bose A20 pairing with Rosetta

Hi Lee

Of the 3 times that I have flown with the new software, it has certainly never seen the PAR200A first time. Next time I will wait a little longer after the comms panel has been switched on before attempting a scan in case the BT part of the panel takes a lot longer than the audio part does to start up.

I usually tend to attempt to pair the PAW to the PAR after pre-taxi checks have been completed.  It would be nice if the PAW could have a BT device  selectable to pair to as default so this doesn't have to be done each time in my case .

Yes, PAW is the latest version.

As I said, My Android (connected by SD to Pilotaware [UDP] mode) worked fine all day.

His Ipad (connected initially on UDP) worked fine for most of the outbound leg but  wouldn't connect to PAW for the return leg (even after several reboots of the Ipad) ..until he eventually selected Flarm as the 3rd party device in SD.

I can only assume that he switched between some apps over lunch after the outbound leg when he took the Ipad with him

Agree, this is certainly not a PAW issue but certainly something that IOS users need to be aware of..

I have experienced similar problems every time I have tried to pair the Rosetta with our PAR200A BT equipped audio panel in the aircraft.

It takes about three 'scans' before the PAR200A appears in the list. Once it does, however, connection is acheived first time.

Anothe 'issue' is that the BT volume level is not adjustable, despite selecting, say, 4 and saving the setting, the BT audio is always very loud!

I saw this phenomenon happen to my Co-flyer last week on his Ipad though no app switching was invoved. I, however, acheived flawless connection on my Android for both legs.

On the outbound, he lost SD connection to the Rosetta for about 15 minutes, he was concentrating on flying and it finally regained connection by itself to be stable for the rest of the flight.

On the return leg, try as he might, he couldn't get his iPad to connect on 'Pilotaware' mode. Rebooted it twice, restarted WiFi etc. He finally acheived a stable connection after I suggested he switched to 'Flarm' connection mode, after which it was faultless.

His Device:

Ipad Mini 2 32GB, IOS 12.3.1

Succesfully installed here (32GB SDCARD)

Make sure you copy ALL the files and folders from within the .ZIP file onto the root of the SDCARD.

Put the card in the PAW, power it up. No need to connect a monitor or KB, if all is ok, the Pilotaware WiFI hotspot should appear within around 15 minutes.

Technical Support / Re: Rosetta mounting - C172
« on: June 21, 2019, 03:23:48 pm »
Here's how I have finally settled for mounting my Rosetta in the '172. I used to have it in the back like you, but 'visibility ahead ' I felt at times, was patchy to say the least and I also got more warnings from our own Mode C transponder there, presumably as the air pressure down the back was likely higher than outside.

The local Ground station still sees us 30 KM away from behind!

I use one of the smaller twist suction RAM mounts and one of those rubber fingery RAM X-Holders which comfortably holds the Rosetta with the 'snickers bar' sixed Anker pack velcroed to it.

I think this, which happened today, proves beyond all doubt that MLAT works pretty well!.....

A screenshot I took the other week from 360Radar MLAT track of a Partenavia over the Harlow area clearly doing something like Google earth surveying. A precision pattern is clearly being flown by the aircraft

In this case where tracks can be referenced against each other, it's quite clear to me that the MLAT data is pretty damned (sufficiently) accurate!

SimonM, That's exactly the same tablet I have which gave me endless problems.

see http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,1091.msg12991.html#msg12991

Create another user on the tablet (no need to ever use it) and your problems will disappear!
