Peter  have you tried analysing your track log on the Aircrew site?

OGN-R PilotAware / Re: OGN Station update ?

'My' site (EGSL) appears to have stopped working since last Thursday at 17:15 according to the OGN network. Any hint of CPU temps just before this happened?

**EDIT**   A reboot has sorted it. Suspect temperature related on what was the hottest day of the year so far.

OGN-R PilotAware / Re: METAR feature in latest software??

Current  METAR upload to Skydemon from Groundstations ..now wouldn't that be something!!?   :)

Pete

I'd suggest that would be a no-go. GPS antennas generally only look upwards for obvious reasons and often have built in amplifiers powered by a voltage on the centre core of the coax that would be strictly GPS tuned.

The only (slight) concern I would have with using the ELT antenna is, of course, that it is perfectly tuned to Airband frequencies. This means that possibly the SDR could get swamped and suffer a loss of sensitivity at times that you are transmitting on the aircraft's radio due to its proximity and strength of signal that won't be rejected by the ELT antenna.

This signal shouldn't be sufficient to damage the front end of the SDR but it might be worth repeating your tests whilst doing a long radio transmission on a permissable frequency to see if ADSB reception is degraded /corrupted in any way.

Having now updated Mine to the latest software (20291115 at this time), Browsing to the unit brings up some buttons above the usual table...

METAR??  VERY interesting! ;)

Config?  can anyone input new parameters?? ???

Flying back from Kemble today, our Ground station flawlessly tracked us all the way in for over 60 KM!

First pic is from http://ognrange.unseen.org/?#PWEGSL,max,today,51.88737_0.35691,10,#80000040:#008000ff,
The other is our Skydemon log.

General Discussion / Re: “Waiting for Device”

Ah, I think I have posted somewhat Off topic. My issue was with a "GPS Signal Lost  ..0 Sattelites found" message.  Connection to device is fine with AUTO on my Android but a fellow group member could not connect to my rosetta until he switched to UDP.

I experienced this on one occasion. Had some time to spare so looked in the status and the the GPS was showing a good number  of sattelites and no fix. ..Left it for 10 minutes ..Same.

Rebooted the Rosetta and on coming up it immediately received a fix and we were good to go.

Technical Support / Re: A really weird one, PAW grabbed traffic and held it.
« on: September 17, 2019, 06:07:07 pm »
Hi Lee

From my first post in this thread, the image presented was a screenshot definately taken in flight. The .trk file, when download was attempted, was missing. I notice another contributor with similar experiences has also reported that the relevant Track file was missing.

Could this in any way be a contributory factor?

My friend went to collect the track log and found ( after initially sending me the return .TRK) that only that file was available, not the outbound. He's not 100% certain that he didn't delete it (is there a confirmation?) in one of his attempts to collect  it though. .  :-\

Graham, if he'd have connected to G-ELEN's PAW then surely it would have shown his own aircraft as a 'target' and shown him as stationary. ..And it certainly wouldn't have kept the connection for six miles out?
