Ian thank you.
The chipset in the USB plugs, what do they do? As there are different ones. Looking at the wiring for the rj11 plug to a sub D on the FLARM LX redbox, they are wired directly in (no chipset) this is for connecting to computer for updates. Can anyone give advice on this? Is it different for USB?

Looking at rj11 to usb for connecting the FLARM redbox to PAW, would the cable be a straight in connection or is there a chipset required for the conection? There seems to be a few different chipsets available, which one would it be?

Hi, next week I plan to try and integrate an LX RedBox FLARM unit with a PAW box for use on a new aircraft.
To be clear, I plan to take serial data from the display port of RedBox and connect via RS232/USB adaptor to one of the USB ports on the PAW. (replacing existing GPS dongle). Do I need to do anything in software to get FLARM aircraft showing on my iPAD SkyDemon nav display, or does it "just work" ?
thanks for help,
Alan

Alan I am very interested in your use of the FLARM red box. Please keep us updated on your progress of integrating PAW.
The display output is from an rj45 plug and a lead is suplyed.  Can you plus it straight into the pilotaware (Rasburry Ethernet rj45? This is a question for lee. Or can it be made to do so as it would save a USB port and be more plug and play

Hi Peter

Hmm, you should not see your own PAW either on the screen or the table.
You may see your own transponder if Mode-C, or using a different ICAO code

Thx
Lee

Lee
On the ground I was checking my PAW and in the table I can see my aircraft transmitting ADSB but it dose not appear on the IPad as it Should not as I have the correct hex set. You are saying I should not see my own aircraft in the table? Or have I missed something. Please don't get me wrong but I find my PAW works brilliantly with out fault.

General Discussion / Re: "All-In" case

What will definitely make a difference will be if the fan results in a net change in static pressure within the case, which would be avoided by making the inlet/exit (depending on the way the fan is blowing) large enough to not restrict the flow. Definitely worth testing.

Graham
That will be part of my test to set inlet/outlet placed in a position to be minimal effect. Positioning the fan is not a problem with the case I will be using. I'm still awaiting a few parts for testing and will report my findings.

Peter
I'm just awaiting a few parts to arrive befor testing can begin (on the kitchen table) I will update my findings but I think adding a fan will start to give inaccurate pressure readings.

Thank you David.  I will try to see what happens. The fan is a small 12v 40mm. The test will be to have it pushing air in and turn it over to pull air out. The test should be simple. I will add a switch so an on/off test can be completed when monitoring the numbers displayed on the home page of PAW.

PS. Looking forward to the PAW presentation at Sherburn Aero Club on the 10th November.

I,m currently redesigning my PAW case...... I was thinking of adding a fan to help with cooling the ADSB receiver, but giving the fan some thought..... would the air flow affect the pressure sensor? If the airflow can exit as fast as it goes in would it still affect?

Richard

My full apologies. The Presentation that I did in the summer was at Full Sutton Airfield for the LAA Yorkshire strut which I have obviously got mixed up.

So choose date and I will be there. Apologies again. In fact I'll do it twice to make up

Keith
Thank you, I have past your details on to Barie slinger he will contact you to arrange a date suitable for both.

Keith,
I asked Sherburn to contact you and they did. Last info was that you had not responded to there request. Did you ever reply to them. The contact was Barrie Slinger?

Hi Richard

Apologies, I have given a presentation  at Sherburn in the early Summer, area there two clubs there?

Regards

Keith

That is very strange as I'm a very active member at Sherburn-In-Emlet Flying Club (Yorkshire) and have never seen or heard of a presentation from Pilotaware. They would have advertised it every where around the Club. I can not be-leave I have never seen this presentation. ????
