What does Skydemon do differently using PilotAware versus GDL90 as the Navigation source?

I have PilotAware setup as a wifi. I've noticed I can get SD to work either using the PaW option or GDL90. Is there a loss of functionality if choosing one or the other?

The reason for the question is that I also have an ADL Weather unit which can transmit weather using GDL. So if i select GDL as the nav source in SD will I loose anything from the PaW capabilities?

Is it possible to buy the half length aerial mentioned in the installation guide or do we just cut the one supplied to size?

Technical Support / Losing connection with switching apps in iOS

I was wondering if you can help - I'm being bounced between various people to find the answer!

I have SD using PilotAware as GPS source all running on Ipad Mini ios12

If i minimise skydemon (switch apps or go to home screen) after about 5 mins (reproducible consistently and even at home when not flying) it will lose the GPS/Wifi from PaW. It comes up with the "no signal received for some time..." message

I'm pretty sure its a PaW problem, as when i use the IPAD internal GPS and switch SD to background, SD still works fine, so I think its something to do with the wifi connection to PaW

I dont know what you relationship is with the SD team but can you tag team a solution?

Technical Support / Using SD and JeppFD concurrently - drop out

I’ve run PaW and SD no problems. Having recently installed JeppFD I find that when I switch between the apps, the GPS connection drops out. I run SS Using PAW wifi and connect SD using PaW not Location Services. 
JeppFD doesn’t give an option of what GPS source to use.

Any ideas.
