I take it the only way to change a station from one layer type to another is to delete it and start again.

OGN-R PilotAware / Pilot Awares map

How do you update the map? Still shows my station (Morecambe) as OGN only but it's running as OGN PAW for a couple of weeks now. Also the OGN station near Barrow in Furness is not shown and this will be updated in the next couple of weeks.

OGN-R PilotAware / Pilot aware only stations.
« on: September 25, 2018, 10:56:35 pm »
I started off running an OGN only station until Keith contacted me with an upgrade offer which I've now done (still have one more to do Keith). Are there any stations out there who are PAW only and if so would it be advantageous to reach out to them to add OGN to there setup? This would be beneficial to both the gilding and GA communities IMO.

Calne is in the list of UK OGN stations but CalneW isn't. Where is Calne?

General Discussion / Re: What's the status of FLARM ?
« on: September 18, 2018, 04:18:20 pm »
From what I understand about pilot aware and flarm, pilot aware tells you of similar equipped aircraft in your vicinity by transmitting your gps data to the other aircraft. Flarm on the other hand also transmits gps position and height of your aircraft but on receipt of a flarm signal from another flarm equipped aircraft they calculate using your data and the other aircraft's data if there is a possibility of a conflict and gives an warning accordingly to both pilots. This is very useful when multiple gliders are circling in the same thermal as it will only give an audible warning in the case of a conflict. Because of this feature I doubt that flarm will die out in the near or distant future.

When you flew past yesterday the aerials were in a temporary position about 10 ft off the deck, so shadowed by the surrounding houses.
They're now at about ridge level about 30 ft above the deck so should see more sky. See if there's an improvement next time you're over.

Cheers

PWMorecam now up and running with it's new aerial installed on the side of the house with a pole to give it a 10 foot height extension to see more of the sky. Two aerials one for PAW one for FLARM.

Hi Peter
I get the usual data from 8080 and 8081 for flarm and 8082 reports the following so I assume it will send and receive data as the service is running.

Version 20180802 : Date 2018-08-23 13:03:46 : Station PWMorecam
P3I Packets=0
ICAO   Type   Dist(KM)   Alt(FT)   Uplink

I hope this weekend to update the site a UKBRW for Walney island and the Lakes Gliding Club so that will be two more stations to add to the list.

Technical Support / New ground station

Hi all.
I've now upgraded my OGN receiver at Morecambe to PAW (Cheers Keith for the hardware)
Being new to this, I'm a glider pilot, how do I know it's working. OGN has spot the gliders which shows on line receivers,
is there anything similar for PAW ground stations. Also I'm reading about licenses, do ground stations need one?
All help gratefully received.
