If I click on the website it gets blocked saying it may contain a trojan, I'll have to try it on a non connected PC and see what happens.

I keep getting a notification from Malware Bites that www.airport-data.com. It says there is a trojan the website www.airportdat.com on the other hand loads OK. Has there been an update and a typo or is there someone trying to hack us. I got the first notification on 02/20/2021 at 12:22.

Why does Radar 360 not save list settings on exit?

Hi Peter,

It used to be necessary to restart each unit daily to check for updates, but checks for updates have (as you have noticed) been incorporated into the software for some time now and happen automatically (as long as stations are running software newer than 20191008). Older stations must do a manual update to a version newer than 20191008, after which updates will be fully automatic.

Is your query related to your comment in your other thread where you say that your station at Barrow doesn’t start properly after a timer restart? I did wonder that there was no feedback on that comment.

Regards

Peter
No it's not, I still have a timer on the Morecambe receiver so was thinking of removing it. The problem with EGNL is still unknown so for the time being I've disabled the PAW side and left it as just a flarm receiver. This has drastically reduced the data usage hence cost of running the station via a 3G access point. There is another receiver with PAW just a couple of miles away (UKBRW) which will provide cover for the area.
Cheers.
Peter.

Hi all
Is it necessary to have a timer restart the OGN PI, I assumed it was to do a check for updates but as these seem to be done at random periods during normal operation.
Cheers
Peter.

Has anyone ever monitored the amount of data sent and received from an OGNPAW Raspberry Pi?
Hi Peter
I presume you mean going in/out of the gateway ?
Getting this at an application level is quite easy, at a system level is more difficult
Any experts here using tcpdump ?

I can imagine tcpdump can be used to monitor traffic designated to/from an external network
Extract the packet headers and accumulate the counts
Thx
Lee

Hi, our system uses a 3G WiFi access point with only the PI receiver connected so traffic to and from the gateway is only what the PI uses. The PI just has the bridge and one sdr connected and data usage does seem excessive. My best estimate is about 12 to 16 GBytes a month which is too steep for the club to sustain as there is a wired receiver a couple of miles away. EGNL was just a backup to UKBWR. I set up a timer to restart the PI on a Saturday morning and shut id down on Sunday evening but the PI never started up and connected properly for some unknown reason as though the software was being corrupted by the startup. The only way to start it was to go through the config script again.

Cheers

Peter.

Right, just had a look. I think a recent update overwrote my /etc/dhcpcd.conf file which stopped Wifi from working.

I've just set it back.

The latest update also wiped the WiFi settings from EGNL also, this is not good. I think the same has happened to Firbank too.
OK so I've just done a little digging and found that the file dhcpcd.conf in the etc_org directory has been over written and contains the line at the end of the file denyinterfaces wlan0 which prevent the pi getting an address from the router. This can only have been done when it updated to the latest version on Saturday as the pi is on a timer that only switches it on on Sat and Sun to conserve 3G data costs, also the password was also reset to the default. The pi works OK without this line in the conf file.

It's not been a problem but I've been having a few issues with the Firbank receiver which is using WiFi to connect and as a couple of posts have been about WiFi issues I wondered if this was the cause. It's back up now so I'll see how it goes. As I'm in Morecambe and Firbank is in Sedbergh, it's not possible to visit the site.

There seems to have been quite a lot of updates since Christmas, just how often do they come out?

How often and when does the system do an update? I've just updated PWFirbank to 20191119, will it now auto update?

PWUKCHP is now update and running the correct software. Also PWEGNL is up now but will only be on at weekends as it is a backup to PWUKBRW for when we are active.

I've done a few more checks on mine and it's also using about 10Mb per hour so running 360 radar doesn't add to the traffic. So we are going to have to find a new SIM provider to get the cost down. This normally isn't a problem with a wired system as most ISPs give unlimited data in the broadband package.
