Technical Support / Re: GSM box showing red

Ever since I added the new wifi dongle it’s played up. It is making RunwayHD freeze. I can see other traffic, but I don’t move. Have just tested this in a lap in the car and icon stayed static.
Can I force it to go back to a previous download?
I start my night qual tomorrow and would rather have it working.
Thanks in advance

Hello and can anyone assist?
I have fitted the additional Wi-Fi dongle purchased from Pilot Aware and all USB’s show on auto.
Phone is set to hotspot and linked on network page.
However, GSM box simply shows red and so cannot use the new features?
I am running RunwayHD on an iPad and using ,my iPhone 11.
Can anyone advise please.

Andy Torkington.

TonyP

I contacted PilotAware and they sent me a new single which has worked flawlessly ever since. In my case, it was certainly the issue. They are extremely helpful and I’ll assist you in any way that they can. Is your unit still within warranty?

That’s fantastic and with thanks.
Both links are he same, do you by any chance have the link for the case?
Presumably the Anker power supply remains external?

Forum - I have seen some rather smart looking rectangular unit with two of the more solid looking aerials attached. I’m keen to obtain / build such a unit as I think I may have inadvertently damaged my ADSB dongle in my flight bag. Does anyone have any information / contacts etc who can assist me?

Hello Lee and thanks for the prompt response. I had it running from 0930-1100 and still nothing. I booted it back up to try it again and send the screen shot. Time will be correct, but so is the response.

You are right Re red box next to the ADSB.

I have an Anker power unit. It’s the exact one you recommend and I use the leads supplied with the unit.

As I have the same result on iPhone, I’d agree that the dongle may be the issue. Can you point me in the right direction for getting another one? I’ll have to try something to get it going. As I said, yesterday was flawless all day?

Regards

Andy

Hello - Re-Post as last one failed.

I wonder if anyone can offer me advice? I am running Pilot Aware with the latest update and have just updated my licence key. I run it on an iPad 2 and have had a few issues of dropping out, but this isn't the norm going off the other forums.

Went flying on Weds and wouldn't connect. Came home on Thurs and worked flawlessly. I live 8KM from the approach to Manchester R23 and it was singing like a bird.

Tries again today and nothing. Connects, but only for GPS use, no contacts. I have tried everything on the forum, re-entering, rebooting and so on.

Is there a way to run a diagnostic or send the unit for checking please?

Below is the current text in the home screen.

Kind regards

Andy Torkington

Technical Support / New to Pilot Aware
« on: February 14, 2017, 06:07:45 pm »
Hello to the forum community.
I'm new to Pilot Aware and made my first flight on Thursday, so am expecting some settings may need a tweak? I'm running it on an iPad with RunwayHD
I flew with Pilot Aware on Thursday and it worked at treat. The only aircraft that ever came up however, were the heavies at altitude and then as a green arrow and an altitude.
Could any users out there let me know if that symbol can be changed and the optimum. I was expecting to see some GA traffic on the occasional glance down. Cheers in advance. Andy
