Hi,

It's not something that we usually offer, but if you want to make a special request we'd be happy to accomodate.

I'll send you a PM.

Thanks,

Ashley

I'll begin trying to replicate this issue on FX here.

The patch will take effect once a full GPS lock has been established and the time resets.

And a friendly reminder that we do have a support phone line available +441789 224324 if you need guidance. I don't bite!

Cheers,

Ashley

Hi,

Apologies, for the slower than expected email support response? PM me your email if you haven't received a response from us.

We've patched this issue in an incremental release pushed out today. 20250512.

Please connect FX to an internet hotspot for auto-updating, or through a manual software update as described here.

Kind Regards,

Ashley Vinning

Hi Timothy,

That would imply that there isn't any internet coming through the Wi-Fi hotspot.

Were you able to confirm that your mobile device was providing Internet through the Hotspot?

Thanks,

Ashley

Technical Support / Re: New Raspbery Pi 3B+ does not boot
« on: January 16, 2025, 02:57:09 pm »
Hi Alan,

The recent changes to the power management IC on the newer Pi 3B+ models have introduced compatibility challenges with older software, including the PAW OS. Unfortunately, these changes mean that newer versions of the Pi 3B+ are not supported by the current PAW setup.

It’s worth noting that adapting our software to address this issue is not currently on our roadmap, as our reliance on the Raspberry Pi platform has significantly decreased since the launch of the PilotAware FX system.

If you’re able to return the newer Pi 3B+ to where you purchased it from, we still have a supply of compatible Pi 3B+ units available for purchase. These units have been tested and are fully compatible with the PAW setup.

Let us know if we can assist further!

All the Best,

Ashley

Technical Support / Re: Rosetta Intermittent But Mostly Not Working

Hi Alistair,

Have you checked the COAX connections to ensure they’re secure and haven’t been snagged or loosened? The issue you’re describing seems more likely to be within the RF chain rather than related to power.

It might also be worth checking if any filters have been accidentally enabled that could be hiding traffic beyond a specific range or altitude.

Let us know how you get on!

Technical Support / Re: PAW and G3X
« on: November 18, 2024, 01:11:35 pm »
Hi Di.Vale

The Raspberry Pi-based PilotAware systems don't produce any visual GUI through HDMI, and it's not on the list of things to do.

We're looking at other ways of integrating with G3X systems however.

Thanks,

Ashley

General Discussion / Re: Section for Rosetta FX questions
« on: November 18, 2024, 10:06:38 am »
Hi Tony,

The FX now runs Router Mode as standard. This means devices connected to FX, like iPads running SD, can now gain access to the internet through FX.

There is an explanation of this in the knowledge base.

Hi Neil

Installed the FX this week. I'm VERY PLEASED with it so far, I wish we'd upgraded sooner.

I’m pleased to hear you’re enjoying the FX—feedback like this makes all the hard work worthwhile!

Questions
1 On FX, Does removing the WiFi password disable the WiFi? That is the implication of the messaging, so I left it alone.

No, it simply creates an open Wi-Fi network that anyone can access.

Quote
2 Is there no PAw traffic voice anymore? (We wired the PAw into our Audio Panel). We don't need it, we use SD voice these days and Bluetooth an SD tablet to the Audio Panel.

Correct, the FX doesn’t include an onboard audio circuit. Most users now prefer voice alerts from EFBs like SD via Bluetooth. That said, we’re open to revisiting this if demand for native audio grows.

3 When will I be able to download flight tracks again (.trk). I think the website says 1/2024, does it mean 1/2025?

Currently, flight playbacks are accessible via the ground station tool. We may reintroduce onboard track files in the future.

Quote
4 It would be nice if I got a clear summary numbers of what traffic I receive ie whether: Direct/ATOM Grid/iGrid/SkyGrid

This is on our radar! The challenge is balancing a clean interface with detailed data, but it’s something we’ll explore further.

5 I noticed frozen traffic on the FX in the pattern last night. I've seen that before on a Rosetta beta release (since solved), is it the same 'persistence after signal lost' problem? It lead to a lot of dire traffic warnings, which was distracting from other traffic. I'd notice the a/c freeze on the first circuit, so it wasn't too bad. It disappeared by the next circuit.

Please DM me with the time and location data so we can investigate further.

6 The Radar screen seems reluctant to count ground stations in the top left count box. Even when they show on the FX Radar and on SD.

This issue has been resolved and will be addressed in the next update.

7 Is it 'Pilotaware Rosetta FX'? Wouldn't 'Pilotaware FX' be better / clearer? I realise it might be a copyright thing.

The official name is PilotAware FX.

Quote
1 External Aerial positioning; we're planning on putting them to the rear of the lower fuselage (Fuji FA200), at least 50cm away from the ADSB/Xponder. I presume the lower the better to see forward below the engine (the tail section rises slightly).

Mounting them toward the rear lower fuselage, as planned, should work well. Keeping separation from the transponder antenna is also a good idea.

Quote
2 Can we take a feed off the Garmin 430/G5 GPS aerial? We are assuming not ATM and using the supplied GPS puck

No, please use the supplied GPS antenna.

Make sure you post your VECTOR here once you've fullly installed the FX.

Thanks,

Ashley

Hi,

The support email for PilotAware is support@pilotaware.com.

With the exception of the low volt flag, do you notice any issues with the device?

Kind Regards,

Ashley

I'll have a look at our Database.

What's the ICAO I should look for?

Thanks,

Hi Graham,

I'm not sure why it's causing your VECTOR to fail. It's working fine on my end.

Can you try opening it up in a Private Browser with Cache disabled?

Thanks,

Ashley

Hi Graham,

I'm using VECTOR on MacOS Ventura with Safari version 16.1, it's working fine for me.

Does the demo aircraft 403BAE render for you at page load?

If so, can you PM me your ICAO so I can try and get it to fail?

Thanks,

Ashley
