Technical Support / Re: Request - new standard non-beta software release
« on: October 05, 2024, 05:41:32 pm »
Another update
But, I did read on another thread (Change SSID on FX...) that there would be another official release of the Rosetta software imminently.
 :P - I can wait.  :D

Thanks for this thread! I will be trying an iphone (grrrrrr - Apple are evil), to see if it's better than my Galaxy S20, Android 13 hot spot, which only gets Orange service light

UPDATE: pressed that button, successfully reverted to the last official release
Thanks for the help.
I am now experimenting with different aerial positions and checking on Vector :)

I think it doesn't work like that. The app to do the uploads is great, but AFAIK, you can't go back.
You can turn off 'load beta', but that's not the same as 'revert to official'
First world problems, I'm still blown away by how much more I see with PAw. I recommend to anyone that you filter the verbal warnings through SD, it really helps (me and my mission profile at least).
Thankyou

Our Fuji is on a beta release, my travelling Rosetta is on the Official version. Can we
a) have a new non-beta official release? Or
b) should I just grow up, blow a new microSD of the official release and stop whining.

I know, it's b), what can I say, my blood sugar is low and I'm hangry  :o

[SOLUTION] - You can revert with an option in the PAw menu

Technical Support / Re: Anker power supply - hard wiring modification

This looks great, but, what next?
Wire it in to replace of the cigar lighter?
I guess this might be a problem in a certified aircraft, but I'd love to do it to improve my PAw / tablet power supply

Technical Support / Re: Spurious position reading from a/c origin
« on: September 22, 2024, 09:08:03 pm »
Thankyou for the reply :)
It has the feel of a database glitch, something is holding on to a value and inserting it in the wrong place. But I've an IT background so there's that bias in my thinking.
Reverting to the take-off position means/reveals something.
Even if the fault can't be traced, it should be possible to exclude the bad datapoint.
Also, could it be at the 360radar display end?
Enough from me
All the best

OK, not an insight?
If it's common / well known, could someone tell me what it is and I'll move on.
Otherwise, I'll move on and be slightly less informed.
Cheers guys, a great group

Technical Support / Spurious position reading from a/c origin
« on: September 18, 2024, 08:40:44 pm »
Hello again, 'sbin a while. This is ATOM Grid related - right place?
We had a visit today from an AW169 air ambulance. I missed it in flight and checked it via the radar360 playback (which shows helicopters as planes).
a/c was 4074BF G-KSSC. The track shows spikes back to the take off point. Can this be filtered out? Would this affect a PAw detecting the a/c or is it just a ground station artifact?
I thought it looked like the kind of thing you can get with MLAT, but it's ADSB data I think.

Hopefully I've seen something that can be filtered, is new / novel.
Still loving the Rosetta, I carry a spare in case I'm in a poorly equipped a/c...

Update: issue fixed by re-input of current code, analysis continuing.

Will do. Thanks Peter.
If i could I would update the license early rather than wait until 2 weeks before expiring.

Otherwise the unit is working great. Very useful for the glider sites round us, and catches a lot of people who haven't taken ADSB yet

General Discussion / Different aircraft profiles / license expiry
« on: April 17, 2023, 11:08:39 am »
Is it possible that different aircraft profiles (on the configuration page) can contain old versions of the software key?
I loaded a saved profile and the software subsequently reported 'license expired' but it should be valid for another month.
I hope to re visit the aircraft this afternoon to check

Technical Support / Track file explainer / crib sheet
« on: April 10, 2023, 08:47:39 pm »
Is there an existing guide to the {date/time}.trk file so that I can better analyse the raw data?
I check my tracks and aircraft spotted etc, but I would also like to see:
- how many FLARM, PAw, ADSB, ADSB-DF18(SE20), Mode S, Mode C the PAw has captured on a flight.
- whether the aircraft has been directly detected, passed by ground station or passed via iGrid
- what detected ship is emitting
-  'spiky' location data
I can work some of it out, but a reference sheet would be invaluable
