Update: issue fixed by re-input of current code, analysis continuing.

Will do. Thanks Peter.
If i could I would update the license early rather than wait until 2 weeks before expiring.

Otherwise the unit is working great. Very useful for the glider sites round us, and catches a lot of people who haven't taken ADSB yet

General Discussion / Different aircraft profiles / license expiry
« on: April 17, 2023, 11:08:39 am »
Is it possible that different aircraft profiles (on the configuration page) can contain old versions of the software key?
I loaded a saved profile and the software subsequently reported 'license expired' but it should be valid for another month.
I hope to re visit the aircraft this afternoon to check

Technical Support / Track file explainer / crib sheet
« on: April 10, 2023, 08:47:39 pm »
Is there an existing guide to the {date/time}.trk file so that I can better analyse the raw data?
I check my tracks and aircraft spotted etc, but I would also like to see:
- how many FLARM, PAw, ADSB, ADSB-DF18(SE20), Mode S, Mode C the PAw has captured on a flight.
- whether the aircraft has been directly detected, passed by ground station or passed via iGrid
- what detected ship is emitting
-  'spiky' location data
I can work some of it out, but a reference sheet would be invaluable

update - It was all sorted that day (22/1/23)
Thanks Lee

.....we were trying to eliminate all the bearingless contact alerts.....
I connect to SD for voice alerts, it doesn't annunciate bearingless, reduces the number of contacts it warns for, includes airspace warnings and the runway you're entering. SD still displays the bearingless rings tho'.
We're lucky that the audio panel can receive the SD audio via Bluetooth or PAw audio from a phono cable

Anything I can do Lee, just ask.
Passwords on their way.

Technical Support / ATOM Grid not connecting to Server
« on: January 22, 2023, 12:50:07 pm »
Is this the right place to enquire about ATOM Grid?
I seem to be having trouble connecting to the Pilotaware Servers, starting this morning. The ATOM Grid is in the roof space. Another ATOM Grid I use, at the airfield is working OK.
My DNS at home is provided via a Pi Hole, is there anything I should white list to ensure it isn't causing a problem?
EDITAdd: Disabling the Pi Hole doesn't bring the ATOM Grid online. The ATOM Grid also seems to be trying to periodically reboot :AddEDIT

General Discussion / Re: Enhancement Requests

Our PAw is installed with internal Antennae and audio routed to the Audio panel bu wire
We prefer the Skydemon Audio, with fewer warnings + runway and airspace readouts, even though this is via Bluetooth, which is quieter and more problematic.
Can we get SD type audio direct from the PAw?
Can SD give us more PAw info, eg METAR, ATOM station #, QNH + station?

...CAP1391(20W), as they are much lower power, and the popular one does not have external aerials...
that's on my aircraft, I'm not a fan of it, better to get ADS-B for maximum visibility and use PAw for maximum awareness

Vector shows where signals are received by the ATOM Grid ground stations, with range and relative direction (from the aircraft point of view). ie
PAw, Flarm, ADS-B, CAP1391(SE2) output devices on the aircraft.
The main a/c I fly that doesn't have ADS-B out doesn't show any Vector ADS-B, it shows the CAP1391 that we have.
The other one that has ADS-B out does.

My Vector's tend to show poor detection behind, due to people in the way. I tune my antenna position for looking forward

1 - yes
2 - it doesn't for me either, I presume as Mode S has to be multilaterated, the display was discontinued as not provably accurate
3 - Aluminium aircraft use the aircraft skin, - so - I guess 1 ground plane is OK. Keep away from your ADSB aerial at, least 90cm, and away from each other

Others more qualified will be along with more definitive replies...

.....Are you also aware of the new VSO switch, which restricts PAW Tx below a 10Km threshold speed (to minimise alerts from aircraft on the ground)?
Aaaah THAT's what that means! Thanks!

Hi All,...I normally run SkyDemon - together with an Aircrew Traffic Display (mounted at eye level on the front strut of my plane)...
...power up PilotAware immediately after engine start (to avoid brown-outs), then whilst waiting for the engine to warm up, connect to the PAW WiFi, then select 192.168.1.1 on their browser and check the Home Screen for ‘greens’ to indicate that all is well with PAW before opening their EFB and starting flight recording...
Best Regards
Peter
Yes I do similar as a 'after power check' check. Including checking I can hear spoken warnings, in our case via SD - Bluetooth - Audio Panel. As you can imagine there are a few links in that chain. PAw audio is also routed to the panel, but people seem to prefer the fewer warnings + airspace / runway.
My running apps for flight are SD, Chrome (PAw) and a backup Artificial Horizon app
I'm experimenting with having 3 Chrome tabs open for Radar, Home, Config; I may add Network and Metar
I will only routinely toggle between SD and Radar - to check ATOM count/QNH

One affect of the effective traffic warnings is that I don't like busy radio channels that spam the warnings!

Actually I like it (defaulting to Radar), there's a lot more status info on there now - it's more relevant in flight, and Home and Config are still available. (Network now more relevant too)
I'd just forgotten how to get to Home (the HM button), but it's now more obvious with the Goto button (imo).
