Technical Support / FX Radar Screen Settings
« on: March 05, 2025, 01:40:42 pm »
When I had my Rosetta on the radar screen top right it used to show the local QNH (and where it came from I think?) and I can't seem to find the setting for anything similar on FX. If indeed it is there? It was always a useful visual cross check to see the latest, in my case, East Mids, QNH displayed.

FX performing really well though I did prefer the Rosetta Radar layout which seemed less cluttered.

Just a belated update as changing prop so not been flying as it won't leave the ground without one. But as far as I can see my cable splicing has been successful and hopefully ADSB is working. Thanks for all the help  :)

Just getting round to wiring the FX to Trig. Have cut off the USB that was inserted in the Rosetta and have identified the orange wire, transponder input and black wire, ground. Going to splice these into the flat 6 core data cable supplied with the FX which I have stripped and ready.

However instructions here https://www.pilotaware.com/kb/fx/device-integration#TRIG%20TT21%2F22 which Ashley has pointed me to refer to an 8 pin plug - unless I'm missing something obvious?

Is there a diagram for the 6 core wiring or colour code?

TIA

Thanks Paul. Will have a look further and test the wiring skills!

Hi Ashley,

So it WILL do ADSB out then?  :)

If that is the case is it possible to remove the USB connector currently in my Rosetta and re-wire with a RS232 connector? And therefore leave the DSub connector on the Trig box as currently wired?

What then in the purpose of this cable?

https://www.gps.co.uk/product/pilotaware-fx-cable/

Have I taken a backward step trading all the considerably impressive upgrades that FX offers for then not having ADSB Out on my Trig Transponder? And what will I need to do to the transponder to ensure functionality? Bear in mind I'm not terribly technically minded..... :-\

Hi folks,

How does one go about setting up ADSB Out on FX?

Mine has just arrived I thought (or probably not thought very well at all) it would be a case of using the existing Rosetta cables for everything. ADSB for Rosetta is connected via USB. What do I need to do to connect to FX and into which socket?

TIA

Sean

Flew this afternoon and no repetition of the above. GPS locked and stable. Will keep monitoring.

Hi Lee,
Not sure of which GPS it is but it is installed with a good view of the sky. I never thought to look at the home page tabs to see what they were showing but I assume what is shown on the nav screen would replicate home page tabs?

I'll check the GPS lock next time I start up and see what I can report. Below a fuller picture from a video albeit a bit furry. GPS Signal Lost banner showing on tablet, and GPS tab amber on telephone used as radar screen.

Technical Support / Rosetta Slow GPS and Odd Radar Screen Info on Start Up
« on: February 02, 2024, 05:35:22 pm »
Evening all,

My Rosetta has been very slow to acquire full GPS on the last couple of start ups on Jan 30 and Feb 1. Was probably the same on Jan 7 but can't remember. Main nav tablet has a banner saying 'GPS Signal Lost', phone used as Radar Screen has orange tab for GPS but displays some very odd information which has been identical on both occasions. Link to photo of screen below. (Would post photo directly but not able to make small enough somehow)

Any ideas?!

Have sent the trackfile link through

Settings are definitely as they should be but interested in any other reasoning for the issue. Flew very briefly the other evening having fitted a different cable and replaced the headset batteries just in case. Had a couple of verbal alerts so it does work. Will try the original cable again but can't believe it would carry usual terrain alerts etc but not the traffic ones. It may be some sort of tablet glitch that I can't easily replicate

This will show if the alerts were generated by the Rosetta. If not, Rosetta settings, if yes, then an SD problem.

Lots of speaker alerts visible on the trace. Closest aircraft was further than I thought at just under 2nm and 300ft below but while initially travelling right to left was then in front of me same direction for a bit before I changed heading. If all the speaker traces are things I was likely to have heard then I didn't. Very odd
