Technical Support / Pi 2 B version 1.2 not working after new software installed

I have a self built PAW unit, with v1.2 of the Pi2B.

When I built it the current 'normal' PAW didnt support the v1.2 and I obtained the latest code which did support it, this was back in Feb and I assumed that the new released software would work on both.

However, I have just done a clean install of 20170721, and it seems I still need a 'special' version to work with the v1.2 pi's?  I say this because the software doesnt recognise anything plugged into it, 5 red squares (ads-b, TRX and GPS all show as disconnected/unavailable.

Could someone please confirm this is the case, and send me a link to the latest working software?

PS By 'clean install' I mean that I removed all the partitions and re-formatted the SD card (after copying down my config).

General Discussion / Track analysis tool?

In the instructions it mentions a tool being available to analyze tracks, can someone please point me to where I can get hold of this?

Technical Support / TRX and Barometer showing red on status screen

Hi all,

Just finished assembling and configuring my self build PAW unit, which is a 1.2 board for which I have been sent the non-official released sw.

I configured skydemon to test, and I can see ads-b traffic going into LHR, so that works.

Checking the status screen on the unit however I have reds against TRX and pressure altitude.  I am testing from home on the ground, and using the recommended usb power cable, and have tried it plugged into a mains plug with adaptor.

Next to TRX it says 'Unavailable TX=0 RX=0 CRCFAIL=0'
Next to pressure it says 'Unavailable (Manual) QNH=1013mb QNE=0ft GBSS=85ft'

I checked the status both with skydemon connected and "flying", and not, with the same status.

Should I be concerned with the above, or is this normal when testing on the ground.  I guess I am more concerned at the moment about the BMP as this is onboard the bridge and would be expecting it to work wherever, whereas I would expect line of sight and signal to be an issue with the TRX on the ground and in a house.

General Discussion / Do you need the GPS dongle to set up the unit first time, and USB question.

I'm still awaiting the GPS dongle from China, but have everything else for the self build.

I have assembled the unit, do I need to have the GPS dongle attached, as per the instructions, for the first set up, or can I run and configure everything without it for now?

Second question; it states that the RTL-SDR dongle should go in the bottom left USB slot, and the wifi dongle in the bottom right.. is the software configured to use hardware on those ports, or can I move the wifi dongle to the top left USB slot?  I ask as both together on the bottom row is a tight squeeze and could be putting some stress/strain on the connection, especially if they get knocked about in use.

General Discussion / Stock levels and Micro SD card

Hi all,

I am intending to buy the components to build my own PAW, a couple of questions;

1) The bridge is out of stock on the website, how does new stock get added or when is new stock expected?
2) Is the SD card only used for data storage where the transfer rate does not matter?  The link on the hardware page to the the sd card doesn't work so I can't see what class the recommended one is.
