General Discussion / G-AWKO - Beagle B121 Pup
« on: April 28, 2020, 10:50:56 am »
Is there anyway that any of the Logs for PAW Ground Stations would have recorded a movement of this Aircraft in past months.
G-AWKO - Beagle B121 Pup - TYPE CODE PUP - MODE S - 4017A0
FR24 has no record over past 12 months.

General Discussion / 3D Audio - A Project for Winter nights!
« on: November 07, 2018, 06:07:06 pm »
Spotted this on the Web. 3D Audio will allow Pilots to hear Alerts coming from the direction of the Threat. Perfect for PAW!

General Discussion / Bridge Board purchase
« on: September 25, 2016, 10:55:10 am »
Gentleman
Had Senior persons mis-handling of PAW and Battery Pack and dropped it onto Hangar concrete floor.
The PAW Aerial broke its fall but removed the hard wired socket from PCB including copper pads!
Looks beyond repair.

Can I purchase a Bridge as a replacement. I have a License and it will be fitted to existing RPi.

General Discussion / LAA Rally
« on: August 28, 2016, 12:38:23 pm »
Will Pilot Aware have a stand or presence at the LAA Rally - Sywell on Friday through to Sunday?
I ask as it may be an opportunity for a Ground Station there to record PAW equipped user Aircraft arriving.
I hope to fly in on the Saturday around 10.30 and will have active PAW......unless I get too many targets!

General Discussion / Aerial positions
« on: May 29, 2016, 04:16:47 pm »
This weekend I installed PAW in my old Wood/Metal/Rag single seat.
Cant vouch for the longevity of my placements but ended up doing the following.
Mouse GPS placed within the wooden ribbed wing itself via inspection cover. Velcro attachment to bottom surface.
ADS-B Aerial mounted vertically, again within the wing via inspection panel. Velcro and Tie wrap.
PAW Aerial is a 868MHz 'Puk' aerial mounted on the centre aluminium panel covering parasol wing attachment. It's biased towards the front and has good omni direction when in flying attitude.
All leads are fed in down each separate vertical cabane to ensure no interfernce. Pi 2 then velcroed to the very small panel area I have available.
Performance is great with multiple ADS-B 'hits' and 9+ satellites instantly.
The only aerial visible but only just is the Puk.

Puk Aerial from RF Solutions. https://www.rfsolutions.co.uk/antennas-c8/miniture-puk-sma-antenna-433-868mhz-p137
I experimented with this during Beta testing and the old *** Tx/RX (like the Scottish play...cannot be mentioned by name) with improved results.
It would be a good option for faster aircraft and gives a small footprint and is easy to fit.

Just need to identify a PAW in the area!

Hi to all on this List.
Well the Pi 2 is up and running, just waiting for all the bits to wing their way from China!
Thank you Lee for getting this great idea up and running.
Will update as things come together with probably some requests for help.
If anybody is flying West and wants a tea break then call me on 07808 402404 and that will be PPR to land at my Strip.
520M X 30M at 24/06. It's on SkyDemon as White Ox Mead.
