Technical Support / Rosetta Slow GPS and Odd Radar Screen Info on Start Up
« on: February 02, 2024, 05:35:22 pm »
Evening all,

My Rosetta has been very slow to acquire full GPS on the last couple of start ups on Jan 30 and Feb 1. Was probably the same on Jan 7 but can't remember. Main nav tablet has a banner saying 'GPS Signal Lost', phone used as Radar Screen has orange tab for GPS but displays some very odd information which has been identical on both occasions. Link to photo of screen below. (Would post photo directly but not able to make small enough somehow)

Any ideas?!

I may have asked this before  :-[

I have a Rosetta connected to a Samsung tablet running SkyDemon via wifi and cable from tablet to headset. I'm getting audible SD airspace alerts and seeing PAW generated traffic on screen but not getting any audio alerts for traffic despite some quite close by this evening. All connections and volume controls are, as far as I can see, set properly but I suspect there is a simple explanation that hasn't yet dawned on me!

Any gentle advice greatly appreciated  :)

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but can't find anything to help.

I've now got the new WiFi dongle and the external GPS mouse to allow the dongle to fit in the Rosetta case (which I mentioned in another thread).

However my tablet resolutely refuses to connect to the Rosetta if the new dongle is in any one of the ports. I get a PAW network 'not in reach message'. And that only if I go hunting in the tablet settings for previously used networks.

Take the wifi dongle out and it is back to normal with PAW wifi showing as available on the wifi drop down list and auto connecting....

Technical Support / WiFi Module doesn't fit in Rosetta
« on: June 23, 2022, 08:52:33 pm »
My iGrid connectivity module has arrived but I can't squeeze it in with the other bits in the USB ports the way my Rosetta is configured (by previous owner of aircraft).

Bottom right aerial
Bottom left I assume something to do with ABSB and transponder?
Top left GPS module
Top right is all that is left and if I force the WiFi module in I will stress the connection on the GPS module.

Have changed them around to different ports but seem to be faced with the same problem. A bit flummoxed as thought it would be easy!

Apologies for photo quality. Looks perfectly good on imgur....

Technical Support / License Expired Message Oddity
« on: April 15, 2022, 08:54:05 pm »
Flew yesterday and recently with PAW through Skydemon. All hunky dory since a software upgrade which I had to redo on old sim rather than on new sim which I purchased for ease of upgrade but buggered up ADSB settings

On start up today I had a License Expired Message on the same tablet which had nothing changed at all. Luckily I was able to retrieve the new key email and re-save the key. All good.

Now I had cleaned the memory of a separate phone that I use for a radar screen having found this thread http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,2118.0.html

I cant see how cleaning the phone memory impacted the tablet? The phone is not connected in any way to the tablet as far as I'm aware apart from co-habiting in the same house.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi,

Previous owner of my aircraft installed a Rosetta and went through the LAA mod process to have ADSB out from/via (not sure how it works!) the Trig transponder.

This seemed to work well and I was able to review flight tracks on Flightradar. I installed a new PAW sim card recently to save the faff of doing the software upgrade myself.

Flew yesterday and FR24 has no trace of the flight.

Would that suggest that the ADSB out is not working?

Also last year I successfully used a separate mobile phone as a permanent radar screen. This is now just a white screen on the phone though the various radar icons are there. Radar works as it should on the tablet however. Wifi signal to both seems stable. Is it a settings issue?

Would be grateful for any advice on the above.

Technical Support / Best Android Tablet for Rosetta
« on: April 05, 2021, 11:37:26 am »
This may have been covered before so apologies if that is the case.

I'm considering a change of aircraft and the potential purchase has a Rosetta plumbed in to the Trig tansponder. It is an all metal aircraft and I may need to site external aerials somewhere but that is a different kettle of fish.

My question is can anyone recommend and android tablet that has proved very reliable in maintaining a wi-fi connection to the Rosetta? I have to date used the Classic PAW with a Nexus 9 tablet and can't remember ever having a wi-fi drop out. The Nexus is now jiggered and too big in any case for the new aircraft so any ideas much appreciated. And ones to avoid if possible.

Many thanks,

Sean

I'm abroad (France) at present and will be showing my PAW to a french based pilot tomorrow who is interested. I have it showing traffic on Skydemon but I now can't open PAW via the browser. I get an error 404 message. This started yesterday initially with just the traffic page but I now can't open anything. Operating on my Nexus 9 which I use for flying and has been very reliable.

Any ideas anyone?

Edited to say that firstly it has had a partial self resolve in that only the traffic page was showing as 404 not found and then it too has reappeared. All very odd.

Technical Support / Saving Radar Settings
« on: December 04, 2016, 06:23:24 pm »
Is this possible as can't find reference to it or a save button? It defaults back to max settings when the page is reopened?

Thanks,

Sean

Technical Support / Live traffic on a PC
« on: September 10, 2016, 11:15:41 am »
I'm trying to connect my new PAW to a PC to see live traffic as demonstrated at Sywell. I have it working on a tablet fine but is there a way to connect to a windows PC with Skydemon. PAW is connected to the PC via but not Skydemon via GPS in go flying mode.
As its pi$$ing down here I thought I would at least watch Ryanair etc!

Technical Support / GPS Mouse & Di-pole Antenna
« on: September 07, 2016, 07:49:26 am »
Morning,
Bought my PAW at Sywell and have it running at home but realise that I have limited space in the plane. Spoke with Peter on Sunday and should have bought the GPS mouse and di-pole then but now want to order. I see they are out of stock on the hardware site. Any idea of availability?
On an aside I just would like to say thanks for being so helpful on Saturday. This is a great innovation.
Regards,
Sean
