Technical Support / WARNING - No ADSB Pos (Trig 21)
« on: March 26, 2021, 04:18:41 pm »
Hi,

I have a PilotAware and Trig connected together and has been installed for a couple of years without issue. I’ve noticed today on some -re flight maintenance that the titled message above appears.  Looking at the forums and the configuration of my pilot aware which I’ve just installed the latest firmware for I think I may have discovered the issue.

On a previous forum it states that the Trig 21 should be set to NMEA-0831, mine is NMRA-0183. Which is the correct setting please? I currently use USB port 4, but looking again mine is set to 4800 not the 9600 I think it should be.

Hopefully a very quick configuration issue from a flexwing pilot desperate to fly on Monday

Technical Support / No Hotspot
« on: January 24, 2020, 10:37:46 am »
Hi,

I noticed on a flight at the new year that there was no ADBS and I had trouble connecting my iPad to the PilotAware. Today I see I am completely unable to connect the device at all and it doesn’t provide a hotspot. I’ve removed it from my flexwing and put it in my car and the same thing.

I have a constant red light inside and unable to connect via 192.168.1.1

I have unplugged the GPS and other USB plug and still the same. I’m sure there used to be a flashing green ?

I’m presuming the unit may have developed a fault.  Is there a factory reset option ?

Kind regards

Graham

General Discussion / Crop Circles?
« on: July 27, 2019, 08:41:07 pm »
Can anyone explain the following coloured circles around my aircraft on a recent flight? I was desperately looking for another aircraft but none were visible.

The rings around the top two images highlight a call sign 76EB00 and the bottom two GIPGL.  The Images have become blurred due to the very small sized image stipulation on the forum.

Thanks

Graham

Finally fitted my Trig 21 into a flexwing microlight and am now looking for some reassurance that I’ve configured it correctly with the PilotAware Rosetta;

Port 1 - Top left - GPS
Port 2 - Bottom left - PilotAware
Port 3 - Top Right - Empty
Port 4 - Bottom right - Trig 21

USB setting now set to

Ports 1,2 & 3 set to auto and 4,800 baud rate. Port 4 set to ‘Trig transponder’ and 9,600 baud rate.

On Trig configurations:

Squat switch : ‘Not connected’
TIS Output : ‘None’
GPS Input : ‘NMEA 0183’
GPS/ TIS Line Speed : ‘9,600 bps’
GPS Certification Level : ‘Not certified’
GPS NAC Velocity : ‘Unknown’
1090 Mhz Receiver Installed : ‘No’
UAT receiver Installed : ‘No’

I was hoping to fly tonight but it became windy and now the forecast tomorrow is dire too.  It would be very reassuring if someone with the knowledge could review my settings to see if I have set it up correctly. The bespoke wiring loom for the Trig was provided by Mendelssohn’s and came complete with the USB connection to plug right into the PilotAware. I had to move the existing USB plugs to enable the Trig plug to fit neatly and without obstruction into Port 4.

Thank you in anticipation

Graham

Hi,

I have the new PilotAware Rosetta and ordered the Trig TT21 transponder which connects to the PA to provide enhanced positional fix.  I ordered the bespoke wiring loom from Mendelssohn Pilot supplies as advised on this forum.

When I have come to look at installing it the USB connection supplied as part of that wiring harness does not appear compatible with the socket on the PA Rosetta. (For some reason I cannot upload a photo in any format at all).

When speaking to the technical people at Mendelssohn they have always installed a USB connection when linking the Trig to the PilotAware.

What’s changed and what do I need to do please ?

Thanks

Graham

Technical Support / PilotAware Audio Output
« on: February 26, 2019, 12:51:16 am »
I have just installed the PilotAware Rosetta in a flexwing and everything appears to be working in that it pick up outherbaircraft local to me. I am running SkyDemon and have a Bluetooth MicroAvionics radio interface.

I made a point today of being proximate to other aircraft to hear the audio warnings, but received none.  I have now read somewhere that I may need to hardwire an audio output to the radio interface.  Is this correct please and if o can you point me in the ignition direction for the lead?

I have ordered a Trigg transponder too and understand that there is a hardwire between PilotAware and the transponder which is hopefully supplied.

Many thanks,

Graham
