Technical Support / Network Settings page not showing the GRID part
« on: August 08, 2022, 12:22:31 pm »
I just received a new Wifi dongle from PAW. However the expected new lower part of the Network page is not showing. NB: I was very careful to insert the dongle fully into the only remaing free USB port on my Rosetta (one of the 4 is used to input a Flarm mouse).  I attach the following screenshots and any help would be appreciated:

1. Network Page - showing the lack of the expected new "hotspot" part of this screen at the bottom
2. Interface screen - showing PAW version 20220805
3. Configure Page.

General Discussion / Pilot Aware Vector Tool not showing Mode S
« on: January 24, 2022, 06:42:47 pm »
I have a Rosetta with a Flarm mouse plugged into it and feeding into Sky Demon. I also have a Funke transponder that transmits Modes S and uncertified ADSB. I have noticed the PAW Vector tool shows a strong signal for my Flarm and ADSB but zero signal for PAW and Mode S? I have checked four other plane HEX codes that I know transmit PAW and Mode S. While these show PAW, none of them show Mode S either? Any idea?

Not sure if related to above, but flying back from Sandown on Saturday with 3 other planes (all of us with PAW) one pilot could see two of me on his Sky Demon. See two red planes on below (both me). The real "me" directly behind in his 6 o'clock but also doppelgänger me some way off in his 4 o'clock . Recently I have also noticed I sometimes see myself twice on Sky Demon with my doppelgänger in my 6 o'clock lagging slightly behind "me"? It would be good to understand what is going on and how to stop it.

Technical Support / GPS Signal Lost
« on: April 05, 2021, 08:07:54 pm »
Since flying resumed last week, I keep getting “GPS Signal Lost”. This seems more likely pre take-off,  but even when flying it still happens more often than not. If I have my iPhone and iPad simultaneously running SD using “Use PilotAware” they will both show “GPS Signal Lost”.  I can still hear the PAW audio warnings via PAW audio-out plumbed into my radio. If I then revert to use the iPad or iPhone internal GPS i.e. “Use Location Services” it works 100% of time but obviously SD then no longer shows other traffic.

Any clues anyone? The only thing I can think that has changed is software upgrades to SD, iPhone and iPad?

Technical Support / iOS14 / SkyDemon connection issues
« on: August 25, 2020, 10:43:48 am »
I and numerous others (going by the Facebook posts) are still plagued by the dreaded hanging message “Connecting to Device”. See attached image. I am using latest version iPad running Sky Demon and set to Pilotaware UDP. However, yesterday I could not run Sky Demon using PAW (so had to use the iPad internal Location Services to run Sky Demon) but frustratingly at same time I found my iPhone 11 connected and ran Pilot Aware to Sky Demon seamlessly.

It would be so good to resolve this issue for so many of us  for what is otherwise such a great product!

I have seen various references to this issue on the forum but couldn't see anything definitive about resolving. Myself and another friend flew south down to Sandown yesterday. We both have pilot aware and transponders. I have a Funke with version 5.3 software. Although we were flying in loose formation in the same direction, the plane icon showing me (G-NILT) just to left of him on his skydemon was pointing north not south (see snapshot below). Any idea if this can be resolved as obviously could be dangerous?

Technical Support / Traffic Page - own aircraft not always showing
« on: January 05, 2020, 10:00:07 pm »
I paste below 3 x screen shots of my PAW traffic page (as well as having PAW, I also transmit ADSB via a squitter from my Funke transponder) On one of them my aircraft (G-NILT) is shown at the top highlighted red and showing Mode CSA-- but no details of aircraft. On another it is shown at the top highlighted grey with reg "G" and showing Mode ---P--U and confirming it is a EV-97 Eurostar. On the third it is not showing at all. Any idea why the discrepancies?

Technical Support / Auto lock on iphone
« on: November 02, 2019, 03:53:25 am »
Does the Radar function on Pilot Aware have a choice to “Prevent Auto Lock” for iPhone. The Waze app for example does (see image). I ask as currently when I use Radar on my iPhone,  the phone screen auto locks and goes dark after the time I have set (option is between 30 seconds and 5 minutes or never). If I set it to never then my credit and debit cards on Apple pay are disabled for security and I need to re-enter the CVV number to reactivate them, which is a pain.

Technical Support / Why are some entries grey

Does anyone know what the grey means on the Pilot Aware Traffic print out page?

Technical Support / Query re upgrade 20190621 - Mode S 3D
« on: September 24, 2019, 04:52:09 pm »
My home airfield is based in the airspace between Luton, Heathrow and Booker. The OGN coverage charge seems to include this area in its green coverage map. However , even though I upgraded to latest version PAW, I am still getting a fair number of bearingless transponder proximity circles on Sky Demon. Should these not (unless Mode C) all now be plane icons i.e. showing a bearing as well?

Technical Support / USB naming on Configure page
« on: August 18, 2019, 06:46:46 pm »
I have just noticed the 4 x USB settings on the Configure page have pre-set names you can choose, such as Flarm-in, Flarm-out, Transponder - Trig, etc, etc - does it make any difference to use them or just leave them named as “(auto)”

Technical Support / Upgrade Issue on Classic
« on: August 06, 2019, 09:31:23 pm »
I am trying to upgrade and thought I had done everything correctly from formatting the SD card to uploading the 21 odd files to it and inserting it into my classic PAW and leaving it on for 30 minutes plus. However as per the two attachments of my home and configure screens the old version 20180520 is showing and not 20190621. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I’ve recently noticed some traffic on my Sky Demon only shows as a “G” and the rest of the callsign is missing. Does anyone have any idea why?

NB On SkyDemon under “Navigation Options” I have the slide switch “Show Callsigns” set to on.

Has anyone connected the PAW audio output directly into the external audio input of a Funke ATR833-II radio to receive audio traffic warnings and how was it connected i.e is it simply plug to plug or is it more complicated than that?

I flew to Sandown yesterday with another microlight. We both use Sky Demon; both have PilotAware and both have ADSB out with Funke transponders. I could both see his plane icon and registration on my Sky Demon the whole flight. He could see my plane icon on his Sky Demon, but not my registration. The Sky Demon screenshot he took, to show me after the flight, also happened to have another plane icon nearby, which also was not showing its registration. On his PilotAware configure page he is set-up to display “registrations” under “Display Traffic Info”.

Anyone any idea why he was not displaying registrations?

Technical Support / What does Pilot Aware with Flarm transmit to the OGN?
« on: October 04, 2018, 09:59:28 am »

If you got to the OGN open glider network then under the heading LIVE on the left hand side menu, click on link KTRAX TRACKING and then the link ALL FLARM/OGN, there is a 28 day flight log of Flarm and OGN Tracker receives.  I can see on 30th September my microlight (with Hex 406C23) appeared in the logs twice as per snapshots below. Once as  “ogn:406C23” and once as "icao:406C23". I assume the "icao:406C23" is my ADSB out but what does the other "ogn:406C23" signify as I don't have an OGN Tracker fitted. I do have Pilot Aware and a Flarm Classic Mouse, and so, if anything, shouldn't the "ogn:406C23" really have shown up as "flarm:406C23"  ?
