General Discussion / Is there any real advantage to a RPi 3 (Pi3B)?

Sorry if this has been asked before...

I have just upgraded from a Classic to a Rosetta kit version. Is it worth also swapping out the Classic RPi 2 for a RPi 3B?

I actually have a couple of spares having bought some 3B+ for something else.

Technical Support / USB connector problems

My Classic has just started having problems with the power connector after almost a year's faithful service. It mostly works, but sometimes needs a little wiggle to get it in the right place.

I've tried a different cable and inspected the soldering but couldn't see any cracks. Probably it's the micro USB connector itself.

Googling says its possible to power a RPI via the GPIO pins but is a little risky.

I'm using the recommended Anker supply so maybe that gives protection. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Technical Support / Changing Wifi IP Address

I would like to use my PAW Classic to monitor traffic when I am working at home. This is easy enough with a USB wifi dongle so I can connect my PC to both my home network (wired) and to the PAW one (wifi).

The problem is that my home network also has the 192.168.1.x subnet and I am loathed to change all the devices to a different subnet. Is there any way to set a different IP address for the PAW wifi connection?

Alternatively (and also of general interest) is the 2000 port still available on the wired connection? Also, can web pages be served over the wired connection?
