Technical Support / Re: CONNECTING TO DEVICE
« on: August 16, 2019, 07:23:24 pm »
I have the same set up as you do.  I suspect JCurtis is on the right lines. Your iPad is probably connecting to the Dynon WiFi by default.  So selecting “use Pilotaware” on your iPad won’t have any effect as you will not be on the PAW network.  I suggest you go into “settings" on your IPad and “forget” the Dynon network.  You should then make sure that you have the PAW network as the default. (Assuming you are out of range of any other network, including your mobile phone)
It’s not GPS cos your Dynon has it all ok.. It’s your network connection I think.

Technical Support / Re: GPS feed from Dynon Skyview ?

I found the flip flopping a bit cumbersome and now use SD on my iphone to download the route from the cloud to Dynon SV.  This is also helpful as I don't start PAW until after the engine has started up and I can use the same route which is already in my ipad mini.  Alternatively if you've done the route on a PC just upload the route to the SV from a USB stick.

General Discussion / Re: Connecting Pilot Aware to SkyView
« on: June 15, 2019, 10:15:28 pm »
Hi Steve
If you have used a 9 pin D sub to connect the RS232 to the Skyview you should have the orange wire (TX) in the cable from the PAW to pin 3 and the black to pin 5 if using a male half of the connector.  The female should have pin 3 (RX) routed to pin 7 on your Skyview 37 pin connector and pin 5 to ground. Same principle if you have just soldered the connections.
I assume that on your Skyview you are currently getting "Traffic Fail" as a message.  Once this is working you should get “Flarn Ok” and you should see your RS232 device on one of the USB lines on the PAW configuration page.
Hope that helps.

Thanks.  I am not convinced either as it did not work tonight before I updated to IOS 4. Can't think what may have changed since I had this working a few days ago.

Technical Support / Ipad 4 can't connect to PAW but ipad2 can!
« on: June 11, 2018, 08:24:44 pm »
I have 2 iPads running PAW. Both have run ok with the latest PAW software. Tonight I cannot get ipad4 to connect although it can see the PAW network. I then updated this machine to IOS 11.4 but that made no difference.  Things work fine on Ipad2 running a version of IOS 9. Can't think what could have affected the newer IPad to cause this.  Any thoughts welcome.
Update:  I think this may be because Ios11.4 cannot connect to unsecured networks.  There seem to be some solutions to this but none has yet worked for me. I might try to uninstall 11.4!
